The Terris Novalis are built on the site of the oldest commercial railway line and also on the site of the once largest steelworks. The sculptures depict a steel theodolite and an engineers level stand. They stand at the top of a hill with fabulous views across the countryside. They can be accessed from Lydgetts Junction car park with a 20 minute walk up a hill on hard standing surface, or from the opposite end with parking in the nearby Tesco.

Poorly maintained graffiti all over it and broken glass on the floor. The first time my wife and daughter have been there, but never again

Fantastic piece of Sculpture Artwork depicting two measuring instruments; a theodolite and an engineer's level. Reproduced twenty times life size, standing approximately six metres tall. Made from stainless steel and supported on animal feet including a bird of prey, a horse, lion, crocodile, cow and a primate's hand.

I’ve lived nearby for just under a year and today is the first time I’ve seen these up close. Quite impressive and a lovely nod to when the local landscape changed after the closure of the steelworks. On the route of some lovely walks, with outstanding flora and fauna. Dog owners or families with kids beware, people on bikes go way too fast and don’t take any prisoners on this route.

Nice sculptures , liked the animal feet and human hand on them as their legs , little difficult to park if you are driving, just parked on the roadside next to them and had a quick look .

A couple of interesting sculptures on the coast to coast cycle way at the edge of Consett, one is a theodolite and the other an engineers level, I'm not quite sure exactly what they represent but they are very striking especially as they strangely have animal's feet, further down the path there are other interesting object's such as a large truck obviously used in the steelworks
