Public Art - The Imperial Typewriter Sculpture
The Imperial Typewriter Company was an internationally famous Leicester-based manufacturer of typewriters. It's headquarters was in East Park Road, Leicester (the huge building is extant) and it was a major employer in the Leicester and Leicestershire area.It was in business between 1911 - 1975.This sculpture consists of three typewriter keys standing vertically whilst rooted in a circular area made up of blocks bearing signs, symbols and words taken from a typewriter keyboard. There was no information board or sign nearby giving details of this work.
