Hilltop Cafe
My favourite place for a pre-dog walk coffee and sandwich. Really good coffee and free dog sausages. Can’t believe the one and two star reviews below, it is a roadside cafe that does exceptional food at reasonable prices, I’m not sure what else people are expecting.

Surprisingly great cafe, don't be put off that it's roadside. Lots of outdoor seating with shelter and without, right next to a lovely hidden walking spot with great views over Brighton. Great coffee. Very dog friendly (free sausages!) Also vegan friendly (vegan breakfast pictured - v good quality avocado!) Lots of food and ice cream available. Has a portaloo toilet. One of the only places in Brighton that bothers with customer service! Worth stopping for.

Hilltop Cafe
The photos looked more enticing than the place actually is .. more of a roadside cafe pit stop on a roundabout than anywhere scenic or ideal to relax. Not a great deal of seating and parking fines easily incurred if you do go for a walk to actually see the “hilltop view” while parked there.Only given two stars as my sons did enjoy their baked potato and panini but lost 3 stars as I couldn’t even get a straight answer as to what on their menu was both gluten free and dairy free from any of the three or four members of staff behind the counter, all of which looked like they were drugged into a zombie state - no smiles or friendliness and when I said don’t worry about my order as they weren’t being helpful about finding me an option to meet my dietary restrictions they didn’t seem bothered at all and let me go without eating a thing from there!!

Don't be put off by its outside appearance. This is more than just a roadside caff. It serves fantastic home made burgers in a variety of flavours, really tasty. Excellent coffee too. Seating is all outdoor, but there is a covered area. However there is only a portaloo for services. Parking area takes about 8 or 9 cars. Plenty of walks from the cafe along the downs.

Gorgeous food. Great value. Lovely sunny spot for a latte. Burgers and hot dogs are out of this world! Don't miss it. Dog friendly and good walk to the Windmill right beside it.

We have lived relatively near this cafe for years, and walk up and round the nearby woods a lot, but hadn’t been here until recently, and now we’ve been several times. A surprisingly large selection of fresh and local sourced foods for a small cabin, from sausage rolls to burgers, jacket potato’s and panini, plus cakes, cookies, biscuits and drinks.Burgers are real nice - smoked bacon and cheese has a good tang to it, the pulled pork burger is absolutely loaded. Buns and salad bits are all tasty too. Fries are a nicely balanced fluffy and crispy. The portions are generous too, so no chance of remaining hungry unless your appetite is enormous - but then there’s always the cakes.

We went on foot, car parking is very small with a time limit of 60mins. 50% commercial vehicles parked when we went. Order and pay for food in covered porch in front of kitchen. Coffees, teas breakfasts lunch and-snack type food avail. Open to the elements bench seating alongside heated tented section with tables and chairs. Overall great coffee and efficient friendly service. Dogs welcome and they sell ice cream suitable for dogs. FREE WiFi.

Coffee was okay, but there's a long wait and confusion over who's drinks are ready. Was given a number by the front of house staff but the guy making the drinks doesn't use this, just calls out latte, cappuccino etc and there's obvious confusion

The must-stop before or after the walk to Green Ridge Windmill.Delicious coffee, hearty meals made by the order and great sandwiches. There is a good variety of sandwiches and sweet treats to enjoy with your drinks.A bit more expensive than usual though it is good value.

I ordered food for delivery expecting something pretty mediocre as I've come to expect when ordering breakfast for on uber eats, but I was pleasantly surprised! The food was really tasty, definitely worth it! I plan to actually go to the cafe next time.
