Even with winter arriving it's still a beautiful time to visit the lovely show of swans being fed at 3-30pm and the floodlit one I went to at 6-30pm. Very informative talk before and during feeding, not just about the swans but also the whole philosophy of the founder Sir Peter Scott. Photography is very tricky with open hides available but with low light you will need a high ISOsetting and a bit of luck with the shutter speeds, Not to mention good software. managed to get a few half decent shots.

Went to watch the swan feed, was a little disappointed with the amount of swans, but that was due to walking pass a wet land with alot of swans on to get the feeding water with at most 10 swans on, hundreds of ducks, the talk itself was very informative and I did enjoy a lovely sunset.

We had a lovely afternoon here. We saw birds we had not seen before. At the time we visited, the place was alive with dragonflies. The visitor centre is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Whatever age you are, you must visit the children's activity room. It is also called the pond room. It is inspired in design and inspiring.

A lovely place to visit with a variety of wildlife. We visited during winter and summer and was lots to see both seasons.

Fantastic birds but not many watchers. It was special to see 7 cranes and 30 whooper swans, however a very poor selection of hot food by 1.15pm. No binoculars in the hides and they are a must have. Eventually discovered in chatting, that you can hire them but no sign, so how are visitors to know? This is a wonderful place but it seriously needs marketing and made more of. Other WWT sites have some breeding ducks etc in enclosures which you can get close to and feed which is wonderful for children. Nothing here like that here. This is important work and the more people have a great day out, the greater effect. It shouldn't just be for enthusiastic twitchers.

Badly signposted circular walking routes (the map is also inaccurate and not detailed enough) but the visitors centre is quite nice with some informative displays. Reasonable lunches (we had baked potato). If you are a bird person, I guess it's a must visit, but we are not particularly bird-orientated nature lovers who wanted a rural walk in an interesting landscape and it was disappointing.

Brief visit early afternoon today. Unfortunately all the paths to the hides over the bridge were flooded but we saw hundreds of Pochards very close to the main Observatory Hide, a few Whooper Swans, Lapwings and Black Tailed Godwits. Had a really tasty Vegetarian Curry Chick pea pastie with baked beans for lunch.

Brilliant day at Welney on the final day of out Norfolk Tour. Staff were very helpful and facilities here are excellent (and warm!)Great to see Tree Sparrows on the feeders, Spotted Redshank, Red Kite, Marsh Harriers, Cattle, Little and Great Egrets and of course the Whooper Swans and Ducks. Male Scaup was a nice bonus. Will no doubt be back next year!

Nice place, it's pretty much all in a straight line, which is good if you have a talent for getting lost. Saw my first whooper swan so that was a tick in the box! Plus a group of cranes and quite a few great egrets too. Loads of dragonflies and red admiral butterflies.

This is an amazing place for nature. It is the epitome of peace and tranquility. Upon arrival I was a little concerned that almost all the visitors were 50+ and mostly men and I was visiting with my family including two young children. As such I felt somewhat out of place but I needn't have. Welney Wetland Centre is suitable for everyone of any age and ability. There are very welcoming of children. They have amazing backpacks that children can borrow while they are visiting which include bird identification charts, small binoculars. bug pots with magnifying lens as well as sheets with crayons to do brass rubbings at various intervals around the centre. My children absolutely loved them and it made the visit all the more enjoyable. Most of the main part of the centre is very accessible, probably even in a wheelchair. There was a section in a lesser used part that was very muddy and there were sections closed of due to breeding I believe but there was plenty to see in the main area that was open.A great place to experience peace, beauty and above all birds and I would heartily recommend this place to all people.
