Once I’d finally finished my debut novel, I knew immediately that I wanted to see it in print. Self-publishing seemed to be the way to go, but it was a minefield of information and disinformation. Luckily, a friend of a friend recommended Troubador to me. The whole process, from start to finish, has been a joy with Troubador. Every person I’ve had contact with has been friendly, professional, helpful and timely with their responses. All my questions were answered and I was given the help I needed along the way. I will definitely be using Troubador again for my second novel!

From 2018 to just recently, Troubador has always been there for me every time I've needed expert help.I'm the SAS author, Lorna Almonds-Windmill. Five years ago, I had two books already out with different publishers - but no experience of self-publishing. Troubador helped me to publish a Sequel to one of my books. It was published first as an E-book in 2018 and then as a large paperback in 2020. I was amazed at the range of specialist advice on offer and the good relationships I was able to develop with different Troubador departments. I couldn't have done it without them. Apart from the book itself, I took advantage of social media support and even a video 'trailer' before the launch. Recently, I've used Troubador to promote a couple of my talks on Facebook. Self-publishing works but you do need a (very good) publisher!

I published with Matador, an imprint of Troubador. All the staff were very helpful and professional. I’m so proud of my book Mr Hammond and the Poetic Apprentice. The cover is fantastic. From initial contact to copy editing to typesetting and cover design and publicity I felt everyone was very skilled at their tasks.

I found everyone at Troubador to be pleasant, helpful, patient and efficient. They're excellent communicators and offer an impressively meticulous standard of copy editing and proof reading. Charges are transparent and there's no pressure to go beyond your budget. I couldn't have published without them!

I liked the people who work in Troubador from the start. They are highly professional, patient and supportive. They were also realistic about self publishing and the costs involved. My first book was not easy to produce as it is full of maps and drawings and I wanted it presented in a very distinctive way. I was more than pleased with the finished product, however, and it has been much-admired.The fact that I've gone on to have a second and third book published with them says it all, they are a first-class publisher. They have growing respect in the publishing world and I had no difficulty getting my books in bookshops, including Waterstones. The whole experience has been positive and has led to many opportunities such as writing features for newspapers and magazines, giving talks and my books appearing at book festivals.

Troubador are fantastic to work with. I've published four children's books with them, including translations, and the team have been great to work with. The team always offer lots of helpful advice and I am looking forward to working with them on my next book.

It's not for nothing that these guys are widely regarded as the best in the business. At every stage in the production process their professionalism is matched by their assiduity. There are traps aplenty elsewhere in the scary business of getting books into print. But with Troubador you're in safe hands throughout. They're a no-nonsense outfit, and what they promise they do deliver – with style and grace.

Working with Troubador was the perfect choice as it provided this novice author with exactly the right mix of support and independence. Being able to delegate decisions and processes one wasn't comfortable handling whilst retaining adequate creative freedom to deal with the rest was the best of both worlds and, when issues arrose which pivoted between the two, the unfailingly freindly team were always able to answer my questions in a prompt, perceptive and incisive manner. All of which made for a publishing journey that was happy, stimulating and rewarding.

Troubador is an outstanding self publishing company. First, the technical side of publishing is difficult - formatting etc is an expert skill. Troubador will make your book as good as that of any traditionally published mainstream house. Second, the service is impeccable. Always friendly and happy to help out with any questions. They published my first non-fiction history book which has now sold over 10,000 copies. They also do excellent audio books. I still use Indie-Go for formatting my current books under my own imprint. Really recommend Indie-Go if you want to use your own imprint, do your own marketing etc. Strongly recommended.
