Well i guess ......... all the best things stand the test of time. ............. i arrived in england in dec 21 1971 and we got diverted to luton because of very bad snow storms so we had to stay in crawley for a few weeks. We then came to Leicester around mid january ......... my first experience was of my watch being stolen near the sculpture in the play ground outside the library .a kienzle automatic. i was 13. well no luck from the police . but i then made this library my home.i used to borrow 3 or 4 books every day .(as many as i could really). What i read and learnt there has shaped my life .It was a wonderful place. we took sanctuary there when the skinheads arrived to beat us up .A place where i read and read and read ........... as the education department refused to put us in school (funny they had just built so many new primary schools) .One day i walked from bardolph street to the education dept and i asked to go to school . we were living in the time of racism and NF. So then the following monday i was enrolled in soar valley primary school.i still have the tie some where .This library has stood the test of time . treasure it ......... for knowledge is priceless .I would love to visit there .We used to play cricket and football in the two half's of cossington park. we had to use the baths opposite the library as we had to struggle with the lodgings we were living in .burfield st i think.this library is very special .. read books and make your children read books . i hope to be there back again one day .Living in australia at the moment . i wish all the staff there good health .

The first person who served me didn't know what they were doing and were being really rude which left me upset and in tears. I went outside and came back inside after a few minutes and was served by a different person who knew exactly what they were doing and located my reservation. I would definitely not recommend going to this library.

Very rich Library and cooperative staff. Happy to have machine based online system of renewal /return. Notice board is also very informative. The children area in other part of library is always busy with children there.

Staff were incredibly helpful - we were in Leicester for the day to obtain Indian Visas and needed internet access- they helped us without hesitation. Thank you

Since my childhood I was taught that a library is supposed to be a quiet space. Its not the case here, its so loud chats and yelling from one corner to the other. Theres hardly a quiet time in this library.

Only went into to get my Library card and the 2 staff/volunteers (unfortunately I never asked their names) were nice & friendly.

Old age people come and talk each other. Don’t come this library if someone seriously want to read books. Best place for talking and fun.

DO NOT come to this library if you want a quiet space. Many people (mostly elderly) frequently come to talk with friends whilst reading newspapers disrupting the fundamental quiet working environment required for a library. The librarians are also not helpful, when complaining to them, they simply don't do enough, they don't do the simple task of telling the noisy members to be quiet. Perhaps putting up simple signs etc. would help tremendously, or even just simply telling the noisy members that this is a library and not a community social space would help. There are also only two plug sockets in a small desk which are permitted to be used for charging (laptops/ phones) making it extremely difficult for students that wish to work on their laptops.
