Aikido (Swindon Ki Aikido)

I have been attending Aikido-Kolesnikov for about two months now which is held every Tuesday and Friday 7.30-9.00 at The Croft in Swindon. The most noticeable thing about this club is it has a very gentle approach in coaching and developing their students in this extremely effective form of Martial Arts. Its not only a great physical work out but also a mental one. Great for relieving stress!I had previously, many years ago attended a class in Gloucester but was put off by the harsh form of 'beating you' into form mentality and after many sustained injuries and being buddy'd up with the same ex-con gorilla week after week who, I was told, was in rehabilitation and used me as a form of therapy, I left....quickly and never returned.Swindon Aikido-Kolesnikov is a real find for me. It consists of beginners to experienced members who all look after 'us' beginners and are a very friendly bunch of people. The group has a very high standard of coaching and are very careful to ensure no-one comes to any harm. The effect it is having on me is profound, as finally I do believe I am beginning to understand and I freely admit is becoming an addiction! The hardest part for me as I would imagine for anyone was actually stepping into the dojo and asking if I could have a go. Within a matter of minutes they made me feel completely at ease!So, if your looking to practice, what is a very effective form of Martial Arts without the fancy fists and high kicks that you see in the movies and lets face it, you'll never effectively use to defend yourself in a live situation, than Aikido-Kolesnikovs would be worth checking out.
