Craiglinnhe Guest House
Short and sweet version: We stayed in Craiglinnhe House in the spring of 2023. It was lovely, comfortable, perfectly situated, the breakfast was excellent, and the host was incredibly kind and generous with his time. Highly, highly recommend. For a little more in depth: We drove across Scotland over the course of six weeks, staying in many guest houses along the way, and none are more memorable than Craiglinnhe, and its wonderful host, Lawrence. The location looks out over the Loch with stunning sunset vistas, and is across the street from a shoreline pedestrian walking path with leads to a lovely restaurant in one direction and into town in the other. The house is old and beautiful, with a fascinating history to boot. The rooms are perfectly comfortable, clean, and well-appointed - the only reason I wouldn't give the rooms five stars is to save room in the ranking system for the penthouse suites of the world, otherwise, it was everything one could've hoped for. It's a close drive to much of the hiking (Glencoe) and to town (s) for dinners, lunches, and whatever souvenirs your heart desires. With all the guesthouses we stayed in comes all the different breakfasts... And Craiglinnhe was far and away the best we had for the entirety of the trip. Fresh and made with love (and skill). Unfortunately, it was one of our first stays which left me disappointed for the rest of the trip having sub-Craiglinnhe breakfasts for the remaining five weeks. I was there long enough try almost everything on the menu, and none of it disappointed. They sourced all of their food from local farmers, and it showed.Lawrence, the host, was the star of the show. He was generous with his time and thoughtful of ours. He not only helped us pick which hiking trails might best suit us, but then brought us out laminated maps for us to borrow whilst out hiking. He organized, and booked, all of our restaurants for us - all of which were delicious. He was always there when we needed anything. When we were moving on, it felt like saying goodbye to a friend. All in all - I'm writing this review, months after our stay, because of the fondness I feel for our time staying at Craiglinnhe house. Easiest recommendation ever - do it.

Craiglinnhe Guest House
Our stay at Craiglinnhe House felt like a fairytale. The hospitality that Lawrence and Katrina Hughes provided to us was lovely. Our room was clean & homey, the breakfast efficient & delicious, and location convenient & beautiful. Lawrence was so kind and considerate especially regarding our itinerary. He provided great advice about the area, a take away breakfast for our early start to the day, and made sure we got back safely after hiking Ben Nevis. He is like Mr. Rogers, Rick Steves & Tom Bombadil all in one person. I highly recommend you staying at Craiglinnhe House. The photo’s I’ve attached speak for themselves! (:

The rooms are clean and fresh as stated in their guest house description. The view was stunning, and I can understand why it is such a popular destination. The hosts are very hospitable and anxious to make sure that their guests enjoy the stay and the area as much as possible. It was without doubt the best all round stay we have had anywhere in the world for some time.Thank you Lawrence and Katrina.(Please call if you are to visit Sydney again)

Craiglinnhe Guest House
My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Craiglinnhe Guest House for our Anniversary and it was lovely. We had the bay and mountain view from our bedroom, the room was spacious with our own private bathroom. We enjoyed the breakfast that was served each morning and our Host, Lawrence was welcoming and very helpful! Such a wonderful place to stay in the Glencoe area!

Craiglinnhe Guest House
If I could give 6 stars, I would! This guest house is unbeatable. Lawrence went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could possibly be, lent us a compass and map to guide us, welcomed us for check in and check out and was always available when we needed him. The Scottish breakfast is amazing, with a gorgeous view of Loch Leven and the Pap if Glencoe. The house, room and lounge are absolutely adorable, with an old Victorian charm while still remaining functional, clean, and professional. The view of Loch Leven from the room was superb! I would recommend a stay here 10/10 times!

Craiglinnhe Guest House
Superb place, it was our second visit and Laurence is a brilliant host. He has made such an idyllic place it feels very homely and you feel instantly very welcomed. The local wildlife are massive additions to the experience, with visiting Pine Martin's, Robins, Seals, and Sealions means it must not just be the guests that find it to be so welcoming and homely.

An excellent guesthouse with kind hosts, who even took care of our dinner reservations and organized an early breakfast to accommodate our departure time. The room was cozy, clean and quiet, the breakfast delicious, and the location is ideal for exploration of the area by car.

Craiglinnhe Guest House
I first visited Craiglinnhe house with friends in 2017 and loved everything about the house and hosts, I promised myself that one day I would come back to experience a little more of the area other than Ben Nevis.6 years later and I have returned, this time with my wife for our 1st wedding anniversary and a belated 50th birthday treat to myself. What better place could you get than Craiglinnhe house? The friendly welcome and hospitality from Lawrence and Katrina is exceptional, nothing is too much trouble. The start of every day was greeted with a beautiful choice of food in the cosy breakfast room. Stunning views overlooking Loch Linnhe and surrounding mountains, if you could draw your eyes away from the bird feeders and it’s multiples of greedy occupants.Returning at the end of each day’s adventures, the rooms are clean and waiting for you as if it was your first day. Enjoy the lounge with its loch side views and comfortable chairs for small and big parties. A good selection of games and an honesty bar for entertaining if so wish. The advice and tourist information available is vast, with good local knowledge of places to visit. The restaurant recommendations were fantastic, all fresh locally sourced food and not too far away.Thank you Lawrence and Katrina for a memorable stay, I will 100% definitely return. To be continued……

Craiglinnhe Guest House
As a scrutinizing consumer and traveller, please believe me when I say this is a well-earned 5-star review. Lawrence and Katrina have created a little heaven on earth that left us wanting to move in full-time. The breakfast is genuinely fantastic, hardy, and classically Scottish. The hospitality is even better - truly worth the price all by itself. You will be wrong to think of booking anywhere else along Lihnne / Leven. Spend the money to have a room with a loch view.
