Beautiful old church and house. The family still live there so limited access. Lovely garden. I would recommend a visit

The house has an interesting history and some impressive furniture. The guides were extremely helpful and keen to chat. No tea shop, but the cake from the kiosk in the carpark was good - according to my wife who was tempted!

Benthall hall is located near Telford in Shropshire. When visiting from Telford, keep on B4375 ( dont turn into one of the smaller lanes, as GPS asks you to do so). Although it takes 3 mins longer, but much better staying on the wider road. As we approach the property, there is a paid car park on the left ( free for national trust members- just need to scan your membership card on to the machine). The way to the hall entrance could have been better- we almost couldn't make out which direction to head to. There is St Bartholomew's church first ( which is very old- conservation work is ongoing) followed by a narrow path leading up to the main house. Once there, the main house looks impressive. The grass etc around the church should have been better kept, we felt. The ground floor & first floor are open to public, photos only allowed on the ground floor. Some of the exhibits were really old & unique, which I think is the USP of this place. There is a kitchen garden and small play area for kids where u could have your picnic etc. There is only a small coffee place right next to the parking so I would advise not to rely on that solely and get some eatables from home. Overall a nice day out, & the volunteers are lovely, but the outside could be a bit better managed.

This is truly a wonderful place to visit, on entry to the house you are met by knowledgeable guides who take you through the history of not only the house but about the old owners and their families. A must visit x

Note the opening hours, do not arrive too early, on the day of our visit the church opened at 12.30 the house at 1pm.We visited the church first and were fascinated by how young many of the people buried there were, it was slightly tricky finding the entrance to the house as the family still have rooms there so parts are marked off as private. If I remember rightly the house played a part in the civil war coming under attack, and the village itself was destroyed.Be sure to see the tile floor under the more recent wooden one in the main hall and the fascinating staircase.

Small National Trust property in Shropshire close to the Ironbridge Gorge. House opens after 1pm. Have picnic in Old Kitchen Garden. Only coffee from kiosk in car park. Or go to Ironbridge instead. Two floors open in house. Photos only on ground floor. Also a former church to look around.

Lovely walks in the grounds, gardens are great. Church is good and has a bookshop. The hall is interesting although access is restricted as the owners still reside there at certain times of the year. However, this does not detract from the stunning interior.

What a surprise! A really interesting place to visit. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They give you a wonderful insite to the history of the house and it's previous occupants. So pleased to have visited. An hour and a half comfortable is enough to view the house. Not very disabled friendly though.

A small National Trust property, but lots to enjoy. Be aware that toilets are only available whilst the hall is open. Kiosk serving refreshments in the car park - please check kiosk opening times. Car park free for National Trust members. You can take a steady 45 minute walk from the hall down to Ironbridge with some steps /sloped paths, depending on the route taken.

An absolutely beautiful house and grounds including a church. Sizeable carpark and well kept walkways and paths. Walks were very well sign posted and it looks like the Ash dieback trees have been removed. It was a lovely crisp day with light winds and the colours of the leaves falling in autumn looked spectacular, especially when the sun broke through the trees. We will certainly return in the future.
