We arrived for a reservation but no staff around to ask where to go/sit!! Finally found a table with my name on. Didn't feel welcome. Clearly staffing problems, only 1 person behind the bar to do drinks and food orders and 2 persons on the floor, but no critics as they worked extremely hard. Food arrived after about 30 mins. It was ok, not great but not bad. Had the beef roast, nice roast potatoes, no mash, fatty meat. Nobody asked how our meal or experience was. I paid and left. Not a terrible experience but have no desire to return. Shout out to the hard working staff, they deserve a medal working in those conditions.

Always a good night out. The service was pretty quick for how busy it was, and the staff were always polite and friendly. The atmosphere has a busy and happy feeling with people enjoying themselves with friends but you are still able to hold a good conversation at your table without having to shout.

Festive menu was extremely poor.Frozen mushrooms for starter, burnt burger and frozen veg dinner for main and brownie was ridiculously claggy and impossible to swallow! Terrible, will not be returning or recommending to others.

Great place, great ambience, great food ( sorry, I started on my Sunday roast, turkey breast, before taking pic as it looked, & smelt fantastic. 3 adults & 2 kids, all with different meals - not one complaint & all plates wiped clean !!!! As a bonus, they take Blue Light & Defence Services Discount cards, giving a welcome 10% off total cost of meals.

Everything was perfect, only thing we had to do was ask for our tables to put together as we had a party of 8 and party of 4 but they made it easier by just moving us as wasn't a lot of room in the corner so was really simple and easy. Food was good and quick. Service was good and quick too. More offers would have been better as prices were high but you pay that for good service which we received. Definitely would go again.

Went for a christmas meal with my team. We preordered the meals and then when we was waiting for starters the staff came over and asked what we ordered this then happened on every course. All of the meals was sent out at different times some people did not receive their meal as it wasn’t made and then had to eat 10/15 minutes after others. The food came out barely warm. i understand staffing levels maybe an issue and Christmas can be a busy time but personally i was only drinking soft drinks and waited over 25 minutes for a bottle of coke !! to then be brought over with a glass which was filthy and i don’t just mean smudges i mean food and dirt. I then took the glass to the bar to be swapped i didn’t get an apology i just got given another glass which was equally as dirty … i then settled for for a straw when handing it to me it was begrudgingly. Others also waited a long time for drinks to be served some over 35 minutes. Complains was made but no action taken !!Although the staff that was serving food and collecting glasses was very kind and helped as much as they could :)

Waited to be served at the bar for more than 8 minutes. One server running around on her own. Felt very sorry for her. Where are the staff for such a big place? When she served me.. did apologise for waiting.. served drinks superbly.Atmosphere.. pretty dull. Very average mass chain pub. Not a drinkers pub.. more sit down and eat.Waiting time at the bar was unacceptable. Would not return.

Unfortunately, the Wheatsheaf were having a bad day. One of the appliances was out of action and so the menu was already restricted, but then the staff were clearly overstretched. They did their best but the reality was cold food and longer than anticipated wait times. Hair in food is however totally unacceptable in any modern establishment and while the staff did all they could to remediate, the management need to take a hold and not allow what appears to be resting on laurels. We have been to the Wheatsheaf many many times in the past, we shall be trying elsewhere going forward unless there is a significant improvement all round
