Foxhangers Canal Holidays

Our first time doing anything like this and our experience of Foxhangers couldn't have been better. A couple of enquiries before our trip were answered comprehensively, the boat itself, Foxglove, was of excellent quality and very clean and the onboard user manual covered everything that could be needed. The handover was in depth (obviously) but explained in a friendly way that meant it was all understandable.I have read the review from a couple of years ago moaning about the clauses being too restrictive and unfair, I disagree completely. I found Foxhangers very friendly and approachable and I'm sure that they would do everything possible to assist in the event of late running and the penalties for damage, cleaning beyond that normally required and so on would only be imposed due to avoidable/unnecessary behaviour.

We highly recommend Foxhangers Canal holidays. Four of us took out Arctic Fox -64 foot long I think, for a week. Perfectly equipped for us, with two doubles and two shower rooms and a good kitchen. Their briefing was excellent, the suggestions for stop- offs and sights on the way invaluable. We could have taken the boat all the way to Bristol, but chose to stop at Hamham lock, which gave a beautifully varied route of canal and river. (Beware : a different boat company in Bradford on Avon do not allow you to take boats beyond Bath … but did not make this clear when booking. They were also considerably dearer and tried to withhold 25% when we cancelled!). Meanwhile in our Foxy boat, we had a great holiday.Foxhangers can be justifiably proud of their staff, service and boats.

Campsite really lovely and peaceful. Ideally situated near the canal with stroll to Devizes Town centre along tow path. Friendly owners. Local pubs serve meals and beverages. Wadworth brewery nearby offers tours.

Amazing trip!! Fantastic handover and support from foxhangers. Would highly recommend this as a family holiday. We took our young children (5&9) who were excited to help at the locks and bridges. The handover from Jim was superb and included a lock demonstration. The boat was cosy and had everything we needed while away including a detailed book with out of hours numbers, lists of pubs/shops etc along the way.

We had a splendid week on Foxcub which is small but perfectly formed for two adults and a spaniel and the kitchen and shower room facilities worked perfectly for us. The fixed double bed was obviously a bit smaller than we are used to but that is the nature of a ‘narrow’ boat. Unusually we cannot think of a single thing that was wrong or not perfect so well done Foxhangers and your team who were all very friendly and knowledgeable.The route from Devizes to Bath is perfect for a relaxing 6/7 day amble as there are only approx 8 locks and 6 swing bridges in each direction and we usually shared the locks with other boats so there were always plenty of hands to do the work. We picked up the boat at 4 on the first Saturday and returned it at 11 on the next Saturday last weekend which was very civilised and we look forward to booking again and maybe going eastwards up and down the Caen Hill flight...

First class company. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, be it by phone, email or in person. The narrowboat itself was well worth the money, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was spotlessly clean and everything was of good quality. Overall, it was a great experience and the cost was very good, especially as it covered everything with no extras to pay.

What a great holiday.6 of us went on the Tibetan Fox for a week.Accomodation was more generous than we expected. Facilities were very good... hot water, a shower, kitchen facilities, seating areas and super comfy beds. There was a TV and dvd but we were too busy to use them.There's plenty of food shops enroute so no needs to take all your food.The tutorial at the beginning was fun and informative and handover at the end was quick and easy with a friendly welcome from the Foxhanger Team.

I took my family on a short break on the Darwin Fox. It was excellent from start to finish. The welcome was well organised and smooth. The boat was very well equipped and in great condition. Everyone was very friendly and when we had a minor issue they were quick to act to help us fix it. All in all very happy with the service.

Fabulous service and communication- we have already booked next year.
