Totally disappointing- recently bought an item in good faith with a coa - upon sending it to 2 Authenticators and valuers I was told it was fake . This information could have been got from the same places I went in 2 minutes. When confronted- they answered- in paraphrase- your problem not ours - they don’t care if they sell fakes and despite portraying themselves all over the bbc with their auction house and owner thereof being a specialist- arrogant condescending attitude AVOID- i have reported them to the Consumer Standard and will do the same to the BBCBeware- despite losing the case on a technicality- DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR ABILITY TO AUTHENTICATE ANYTHING ESPECIALLY DAVID BOWIE ITEMS- contact me if you want a genuine coa -BEWARE Anyone looking at buying the David Bowie signed items in the forthcoming sale - they are more than likely fakes - the alleged expert doesn’t check with accredited authenticators and would rather go to court than refund and admit error and undergo proper dd - £££ is all he’s after. Great auction house. Dealt with the military department to sell my collection. Very professional from initial valuation all the way through to after selling. The specialist kept me in the loop all the way through. Would highly recommend.

I purchased a punt from this auction house a few weeks ago.They swiftly furnished me with the requested images and report. They then got me registered and a telephone bid booked in an orderly manner.Upon collection I found all of the staff that I encountered friendly, helpful, and efficient.A wonderful service throughout.

Bidding on SAS live is easy once you have registered and charges you less commission than other online platforms ( they often say “reasonable commission” I would say it would be even more reasonable if it were lower) , the auctioneers are efficient and quick as well as being entertaining to watch, the rest of the staff are very helpful and friendly, I have bought many lots from SAS and sold some too, I have always had a pleasant experience.

Took lots of jewellery as Thomas specialises in that. All the things he didn't rate highly, he took out of boxes and pouches and put them all in one big box. That lot didn't sell, though our other lots did. No-one would have bought that lot, you couldn't see what was in there. The box was returned to us and it took me a whole day to untangle and sort it all out. A few items got broken. He was not friendly and charged us 30% interest. Not impressed.

Worst Auction House in England - no question. If you complain about an item you purchase from them, they offer a refund but they warn you that if you accept it you will be banned forever from any future auctions. Or you can keep the item and no refund and you are not banned!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAYI cannot believe the auction house response below - incredible - I have no reason to make this true story up but I guess they have every incentive to post their response as they cannot accept the truth - PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS - my email address is blocked on their system - proof enough I think!!!!!Added by me in response to the auction house response below.They are incredible EVERYTHING I have said above is 100% true, I have the right auction house as I visited them in person and they told me everything I have mentioned above including banning me. This is even more reasoon to avoid them as they cannot be honest with their response to my honest truthful review - WOW. PLEASE AVOID there are many good honest auction houses in UK that you can use instead of this dishonest awful one.

Bought a Bernard Leach bowl at an online auction at Special Auction Services Newbury.I relied on their condition report for the purchase it was very fair and accurate. The item was packaged and shipped by the Auction for a very reasonable price. If arrived safely in good time. It was well packaged. There was great communication by auction staff. Whole experience 5 star!

I am very happy with all the help and hard work the Military and Collectors Department put in to display the many football badges entered in the auctions in May & August. I was kept in the loop at all times and will definitely use them again if needed in the future.

No viewing except my appointment, online bidding 25% plus VAT that's a 30% hit on the hammer price. What actually are SAS doing for their money where the purchase is concerned? Anything at all?

I purchased several lots of small ceramics from this auction house last week. I have had two breakages in the post this year, from other auction houses, and asked SAS if they would take special care of my lots. They were very kind about my request, and did one of the best packing jobs I have ever seen. They also posted quickly after the sale. Their pre-sale condition report was outstandingly helpful. Definitely hope to be buying from them again.
