Best curry in Dundee.Real big juicy chunks of marinaded lamb in the garlic chilli masala and an excellent pashwari naan. Good old fashioned place I love it.

Out bloody standing as always! Food is superb. Restaurant is stuck in the 80s but we love it. The staff are great too. Canna beat a flat glass of coke with two ice cubes and a slice oh lemon during your curry...

Best curry in town. Been on the go for years. A few points down the Perth Road wouldn't be the same if they weren't finished off with a trip to the Balaka. Chicken Chilli Masala - now there's a good idea !!

Authentic and rustic restaurant with really yummy food. The curries were really flavourful and plenty options to choose from. Popular for take away too!

We have never had a bad meal here. We have been coming here for 40 years (where did it go) always good food and service too.

The Balaka has been a favourite of mine for many years. It has recently been redecorated. I have always found the food is excellent. Lamb Biryani with a Madras vegetable sauce is a particular favorite of mine. The staff, many of whom have been there for many years, I have always found attentive. The Balaka is an excellent place for good traditional Indian cuisine.

Very dated. I was here once or twice in the 90's. My mate comes here for the house biryani...which he swears by. All the staff are mature men and i gather they have never changed. I know of people who go nowhere else. Its spotlessly clean but fairly worn out and tired. Nothing has been modernised about it which you will feel most as you wander downstairs to find a loo. I found the initial service quick and polite. Afterwards i had no further drinks or coffee etc as nobody asked if i wanted anything like a refil. I found my curry average (chicken a bit dry sauce a bit thin). Mate still gives his 5 stars. Bill was very modest with after eights aplenty. Must be the longest served curryhouse in town. One for its loyal followers or nostalgia hunters. No wheelchair access. Not really my cup of tea.

Phoned for a takeaway to be told that one of the items I was hoping to order wasn't available. I gave an alternative and was interrupted with what's your main order?" I proceeded to say I'm having sides and again was rudely interrupted with a mumble along the lines of "well we don't take orders of just sides". Had he been mannerable and polite he would have received an order of around £40 as side dishes weren't the only thing I was ordering. I have lived near this restaurant for around 15 years. Went once and it was awful... given the time that had passes since my initial visit I thought I'd try it again
