Long Stay Car Park

I park here fairly regularly but on one occasion I got back after a few days and my battery was flat. I pressed the intercom at the exit and a friendly security guy in a van came round a few minutes later and jump started my car. Genuinely brilliant customer service and saved me waiting for hours in the middle of the night.

To start with the signposting at Edinburgh airport is totally inadequate. If I didn't already know how to get there, I would still be wandering around lost at the airport forecourt.The single clue is on small sign outside the main arrivals doors pointing vaguely in the direction of the carpark.On the journey you wander along, but be mindful that signs are always some distance off. The helpful taxi stewards guided me across the road to proceed further on my journey.After a while I actually had to enter the fenced precinct marked 'MidStay car park' as the footpath just stopped. So, I journeyed on over the potholed driveway surface (marked irregularly with a pedestrian crossing walkway paintwork) which was about as smooth as a suburban Edinburgh road (i.e. awful).

I use this car park several times a year and the automatic license plate recognition system always works on arrival which is very convenient. It can be chaotic at times when people leave their cars just about everywhere when they can't find a space quick enough near the pedestrian gates.

Arrived at Edinburgh airport in the dark and headed for airport long stay carpark..numerous signs to long stay" carpark. Unfortunately the private car parks are signposted as "long stay" also. Eventually we found the official airport car park. We were advised by email before our journey that entry and exit would be based on number plate recognition...not so. Parked our car and headed for airport building...no signage on how to exit the carpark as a pedestrian. Eventually we found an exit gate after redirecting many times due to high fencing and poor lighting. On return from holiday our earlier Email suggested that our exit by car would be by number plate recognition ...not so...on approaching the barrier it did not raise. Exit machine had instructions to enter credit card

It's a little silly that they removed the shuttle bus even if it's only a 10 minute walk. The really silly bit however is that when you leave.We turned up to park at 3am for 10 days in Iceland. Loads of spaces, and we had pre-booked so hassle free. When we got back to the car however, it was so full that people had parked in junctions and on the pavement. You could sit here and go, well that's not nice for wheelchair users or prams" but I do understand that if you turn up then you are totally and utterly scuppered.My solution is

Terrible car park. No signs telling you how to get to the airport, no paths for most of it, the ground is rough and bumpy which is bad for cases, there were actual speed bumps in the way on parts that cars aren’t allowed on, at one point you go through a small gate with is often flooded getting shoes and cases wet, nearly the entire way is outdoors with no cover and the spaces are tight. Not really surprising considering how much of an embarrassment the actual airport is.

I had no major issues (no punctured tyres...). However, the car park is not kept clean very well - or at all. There is a lot of random debris and trash.Finding your way from the car park to the airport terminal is also inconvenient, especially at night. At least the first time you go there. There is really nothing that guides you and there are no walkways/sidewalks in the car park at all.Even driving out of the car park proved to be somewhat of a nuisance as there were no exit guides from where I was parking.

Prepaid for parking space for a week. Arrived to find it oversubscribed and had to wait for a space. Too many cars doubled parked and parked on double yellow lines blocking passage ways and huge parts of the car park. No staff available to help or advise. Awful experience before our holiday.

We used this to drop relations for their flight to Spain. Take a ticket and drive around to the gate marked Terminal for a short walk to the terminal & put ticket in the machine to exit.A much easier and cheaper way to pick people up & drop off for Edinburgh Airport.The 30 min drop off & collection is free.

Very very disappointed with the service provided by the long stay car park at Edinburgh airport. I just left the car in the parking for a couple of days and when I returned, I found that the back left tyre was punctured. The reason was a big chunk of metal embedded into the tyre. So I had to call AA and wait for assistance to replace the tyre for a provisional one. The guy that came from AA mentioned that it wasn't the first time that this incident had happened in this car park. When I complained to customer support at Edinburgh airport about what happened, my surprise was that they didn't take any responsibility at all for this incident.As you can imagine, I'm not recommending this car park anymore to friends and of course, I will never use it again.
