Wouldn’t even give one star. Please please Don’t go to him if you care about your pet, he massively misdiagnosed my beloved dog with gastroenteritis… turns out it wasn’t that at all, it was an infection in her womb which resulted in her womb exploding,(I did ask him if it could have been this, he assure it wasn’t) she died within 24hrs, I heard he was an alcoholic which may have been the reason he didn’t do his job properly.I have also heard about similar situations where he just diagnosed animals with gastroenteritis and the animal also died. My whole family has now taken all their animals out and registered with medivet instead.I highly advise anyone who has had their animal misdiagnosed by the bloke to seek legal advise or citizen advise, I did, after back and forth emails of him saying it may not be the first time and probably won’t be the last time he misdiagnoses a pet.He eventually paid back the vet fees from himself and the other vet I had to take my dog too.

Avoid this practice like the plague if you would like yourself and your pet treated with kindness, respect and compassion because it certainly won’t happen here.Sadly my cat of 17 years had to be put to sleep very recently and Sim Veterinary Consultancy has been my vet since I moved locally. I can honestly say that having dealings with many vets over 50 odd years (both on the farm and having my own pets) I have never been treated so appallingly as I was on this day, Alan Sim had zero compassion, was downright rude and disrespectful. I was clearly distressed to lose my beloved pet and made my wishes perfectly clear to his assistant which was that nothing was to be done to Jack unless I was holding him, I did not want him distressed in any way and being with me would alleviate that stress, she said she understood and took Jack from me so I could pay the bill, whilst I was paying she walked off with him into the surgery, I quickly followed only to be shouted at by Alan to get out I should not be in there, I stood on the the threshold whilst she put Jack in a cage above a barking dog (clearly this was going to stress a poorly cat) Alan decided belatedly to take the dog out & as he walked past me told me to ‘go and wait outside they would call me when I could come in’. God I so wish I had stood up to him and said no, I didn’t and am still regretting it, when they called me through they had completely gone against my wishes and had shaved Jacks leg and given him a sedative injection which had virtually knocked him out and he would not have known I was there, Jack did take his last breaths whilst I was holding him but he was most probably terrified beforehand which is exactly what I didn’t want. I don’t expects any vet to feel the way i do about my pet but with all the years he has been a vet I expected kindness and compassion, I got neither. I went back the following morning to pick up Jack’s body as I had changed my mind about having him cremated I no longer trusted the practice to treat Jack with any respect, he loudly announced to a lady stood behind me that did she realise her cat would be frozen, poor woman said it wasn’t her it was me collecting the cat, so he turned to me and asked me the same question I guess he was presuming I hadn’t heard him the first time, again no kindness or compassion shown at any time. The whole experience was horrendous and very badly handled by Alan and his assistant who’s only priority was making sure I paid my bill. Losing Jack was horrible but was made so much worse by the way myself and my pet were treated on what was a very stressful day.

Can't understand how Alan Sim gets a good review! I don't even know who saw my dog when i took her in Sept. taken away by unnamed female whilst, with other owners we waited outside. Someone, receptionist? diagnosed she needed grooming. 3 wks later my dog died of large rectal tumour, diagnosed by another vet practice. DO NOT USE if value your pet

All I can say, is thank you, thank, thank you. Mr Sim performed surgery on my 15 year old girl's pyo. He stayed with her overnight in the surgery. She had had few symptoms, but had suddenly crashed the night before I took her in. He said it was one of the biggest pyos he'd seen with so few symptoms. He performed a miracle -and didn't break the bank - with my girl and she's home now and seems years younger, despite what she's been through. So grateful for what he's done and his lovely team.

There is an enormous waiting room at this practice but you will not be allowed into it. I took my elderly dog to be seen and whilst I was made to wait outside he was dragged so roughly into the room that he began to cough and retch heavily. Eventually hewas brought back out to me and the nurse endeavoured to conclude the visit but the actual problem that I was there for had not been addressed - even though I had described it to the receptionist at the time of booking -(how can the vet not actually talk to the owner? ) My dog had to be dragged back in with more retching and coughing. This just isn’t all right. I shan’t be putting my dog or myself through that again.

Alan saved our Chihuahua, she gave both to two breach puppies at home, as they to large to be born naturally. Alan gave her a c section and saved a puppy and found another puppy which had died. We are very grateful for his support throughout and his ability to save Mummy dog and a puppy. Both doing amazingly well.

Not only do I love this veterinary practice but my pets do too I reckon. They may dread the tell tale signs of an appointment but they instinctively know they are in good hands. They have been going there for several years now. This year both of them independantly needed sudden urgent advice and were very lucky to be a part of this practice in the lovely location it is based in. I have every faith in Sims veterinary practice. If they offer advice... my advice is take it.

I took my dog yesterday 9th March, 140 pounds for an X-ray and 10 tablets of omeprazol. The vet said she had an irritated stomach and should give the tablets and some microwave food full of greasy stuff. My dog is shivering all the time, not eating, she cries when I pick her up, her tongue out, her snout warm and wet.... I told the vet she is not well and must be something else, and he said I should look for a second opinion!!!! after paying 140 pounds!!!! What type of person is this vet??? I can see all the reviews, and some say wonderful things about him, thus why I took my dog to him, but why is he acting like this with me and ignoring me? My dog is not good and I am asking for help, after paying him quite a lot of money and he tells me get lost!!! Never seem something like this in my life. I now have to go to another vet and spent more money to find out what is happening to my poorly dog. Disgusting vet!
