We couldn’t thank Nick at Bear Basics enough. We reached out after rescuing a springer spaniel with some training needs around reactivity and loose lead working, and we’re so glad we did. The difference in Archie has been unbelievable from the support we’ve had throughout training but also his weekly structured walks. Archie now walks so much better on his lead, and can be around other dogs.Nick is approachable, understanding and super knowledgeable - nothing is too much trouble and has helped up with different questions and queries we’ve had that aren’t always directly related to Archie’s training needs we first get help with.I would recommend Bear Basics to anyone who would like to improve their dogs training or have a structured dog walker who is reliable, and very passionate about each dog.Thank you so much!

I brought Bella to Nick for day training mainly for loose lead walking & reactivity. The difference after this day & over the past few weeks is something I never thought we would achieve. The support following her session has been amazing & the follow up session has helped to really solidify Bellas behaviour. Walks are now so much less stressful for both Bella and myself. Couldn’t recommend a dog trainer enough, without sounding cringey it’s been life changing.

I came to Nick after seeing him out walking some dogs.(I wanted my dogs to walk like that!) I spotted his t-shirt and contacted him for my 8 month rescue bull terrier fred" who has some barrier frustration leading to reactivity

We have just completed a 6 session 1-2-1 package with Nick for our two Dachshunds. Both our dogs come with their own complex behavioural issues, and we had reached the end of our tether with them, unsure what to do next. Thank god Nick came along! He worked with us from our initial consultation, assessing the boy's behaviour and coming up with the best plan of action for their individual needs. Following Nick's guidance, their behaviour has improved dramatically. Nick was knowledgeable, friendly and is always available if you have any questions between sessions! Both dogs are much happier now we have clear boundaries and structure set in place for them. Could not have imagined a better trainer to help us when we were at our wit's end - thank you Nick for helping us regain control of our boys!

As first time dog owners, we knew when we got our working cocker spaniel (Rudy) that a lot of training would be needed. After finding Bear Basics online, we booked in for a puppy training day where Rudy got taught the fundamentals of obedience and engagement, as well as how to switch off and settle through place training (worth every penny just for this!)Rudy also has a very high prey drive and a strong desire to work, which results in a lot of lead pulling, and massive overstimulation outdoors. We booked in a follow-up session to work solely on this, and in the last 2 months we have seen a complete transformation. Nick taught us the value of playing outside with your dog, getting Rudy to sit and do nothing, the art of lead pressure, and how to properly reward him when he has done something good. As a result he is much calmer on a walk, and although he still has his moments, he is getting better every single day.We can’t recommend Bear Basics enough, as Nick is always on hand to answer any questions we may have, resulting in our walks being so much more fun and enjoyable.
