Shocked to find this is now the only Barclays in Cambridge... and it is only open 9.30 am to 3pm???! Thoroughly disappointed in the options. You may be an online bank, but I still need to be able to deposit cash and foreign cheques.

The worst Barclays experience here. I have Barclays account for more than 10 years, and tried many branches in different cities. Only this one is terrible.For same case, verify my new address in person, I visited this branch 3 times. The reception told me the different stories each time but nobody can help me to solve it. They told me I need to book an appointment for verification. But appointment booking isn’t doable, it’s walk in service, first come first serve. So it’s a deadlock and ridicules. Then I tried the Sheffield’s Barclays during business trip, they helped me to verify it immediately and friendly.So don’t try this Cambridge branch, poor management and waste customer’s time.

Have rung the only number I could find for Barclays, asked for appointment in Cambridge with regard to registering power of attorney. Am I a Barclays customer? No. Have i downloaded the app to my smartphone? No, I don’t have a smartphone. I was the told I will need two appointments. There are no appointments showing…at any time , I could just pop in and they might be able to see me! Unfortunately you don’t just pop into central Cambridge if you live 7 miles away, you drive then park&ride or train then bus. None of this is quick. I hope customer service in the branch will be more helpful…..

Utterly useless. Lazy and seriously rude staff. “We are a digital bank with physical presence. Call our contact centre!” Repeat x10. The just sit around trash talking and abusing customers. Worst experience ever

I applied by phone to open a currency account in euros, already having an account in pounds, they said that they would open it within 10 working days, but more than a month had passed!! And only then I receive a letter with a refusal to open an account. During this month, I visited their office to inquire about my account, with no result. Wasted a lot of time and effort, just terrible service. I withdrew all the money from my Barclays accounts to another bank and closed all accounts with them.

Absolutely useless. I should have read the other reviews first.During an ISA application over the phone, customer agent told me to visit a branch for a simple ID check, no appointment required.Upon arriving at this branch, greeted by the gatekeeper who said she didn't have the capacity to deal with this request today. Was told the appointment would take 45 minutes and as such needed to be booked ahead of time. Not sure she fully understood the difference between the basic ID check and a full account opening. Was interrupted while explaining and cut off with her attempting to repeat the same off-pat answer about needing to book an appointment. She did attempt to blame the phone agent colleague.Only resolution offered was to go to a room so we could book an appointment for a later date, raise a complaint and/or go on the cancellations list". She also said we could call the same phone agent again. Quite how long this would take and how it would help me verify my ID

I deeply regret setting up an account with Barclays. I set up an account several years ago and set several direct debits to this account. I recently discovered that my card had expired and that I was locked out of my online and mobile banking. When I called Barclays, I was told that it is policy to not reissue a card and lock people out of their accounts if the card is not actively used (even when the account is actively used). But it is not possible to request a new card over the phone, you must go on store and wait an hour to prove your identity to reactivate the account (again despite regular transactions to and from the account not using the card). As soon as I have a card and can access my accounts again I am transferring my money out of Barclays. Would give zero stars if I could.

Worst bank and branch. Not surprised to see the ratings. Slow and worst customer service. They don't even consider the customer's problems and just make them go through all the unwanted procedures again and again if you talk on phone to staff or branch manager or even go to branch and talk face to face, they just waste the customer's valuable time and energy. My partner submitted a cheque to cash about for 2 months now and they just want to go through all the procedures a hundred times still to verify her which she did and she provided all the documents for that and they still don't care. Really annoying and takes the piss out of customers.

Rude staff and utterly disgusting service. I went to the bank to get certified statements, but both of the machines for this were broken. I was told to print the statements myself and bring it for stamping. But when I came back with the printed statements, the receptionist claimed that it was against their policy to stamp statements printed by myself. She offered no solution, ignored me and started chatting with others. This type of incidents have occurred multiple times, however, their customer relations team did not look into my complaint. This branch is hopeless. I hope its manager and receptionists will be fired.
