Aleppo Merchant Inn, in the village of Carno is an absolute MUST VISIT for anyone fortunate enough to live near, or travel through the area.The staff are friendly and helpful, the menu brimming with variety and from the selection we had, absolutely excellent all round. Naturally they have all the regular dishes with meat. But I tried some vegetarian options and was honestly delighted.Though nearly 400 years old, with a lovely history, it's tastefully decorated, with a warm, cozy vibe and some of the most magnificently comfortable dining chairs this side of the Sahara.It's rare to find a place so perfect all round - yet there it stands, where it has stood for nearly 400 years, in Carno.I'll most certainly be a regular from now on. Maybe I'll see you there? Ask for the Jolly former South African who is head and heart in love with Wales. I'll hopefully be at one of the tables when you visit.But regardless of me being there or not, do yourself the favour and stop by. I'm willing to guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Max the owner was super friendly, rooms clean and fresh, decent beer and not a bad menu for a village pub. Provided a vegan Welsh breakfast and plenty of coffee and even let us stow our bikes in a cottage. Would go back.

Stayed at the Cambrian House B&B a couple of doors down from the pub, so can’t comment on rooms but my review is based on two nights visiting the pub while we were in the village. We had drinks one night and the second night came back for food. The food was basic but well cooked (scampi and chips) and the bar staff had arranged this for us despite not serving food generally at the moment because they don’t have a chef. We believe the pub is imminently changing hands?It is clean and modern if not luxurious but the lady behind the bar was very welcoming and we have to say the 6 or 7 locals were also chatty and friendly. There were also some contractors staying at the pub - also friendly and chatty. A lovely atmosphere and the food we had was good so I have to give full marks for this review.

Just want to say a massive thank you to David and owner that made our nights stay there so enjoyable and a trip to remember the food was fresh and amazing and the bar staff was friendly and so welcoming and some great conversations and recommendations for next time we come keep up the amazing work your all amazing

Didn't stay here just visited the pub.Friendly staff quiet pub good selection of drinks . There's a pool table , slots , Duke box front and rear beer gardens plenty of parking. They do serve food but only at certain times .

Had to remove my positive 5-star review as pub now nothing like it was. Last visit eating food in beer garden food was of cheapest quality. Also on another group visit unbelievably small portions of Sunday lunch served up on side plates! Result food was impossible to eat properly. Also dogs not allowed in bar area! Believe pub now possibly in process of being sold. Until change of ownership will not be visiting again.
