The Fire Place

Had a marble fire surround an fire fitter on Thursday 30th January, the service from start to finish was excellent. We love the finished product. The salesman Dave, and the two men who fitted it were really helpful. The fitters did a great job and left the bare minimum of mess. All in all a very good experience. Will recommend them highly.

Just had the old gas fire in my house replaced with an electric one by the lads from Durham. Got sound, sensible advice beforehand in the showroom from Dan. The fitters, Andrew & John, had the job done in 90 minutes flat, removing the old fire, capping the gas supply, restoring the external brickwork where the old flue was, and installing the new fire. It looks great. Good service & reasonable prices. Very happy to recommend. Thank you !

Wow. Our fire is awesome. We just bought a gas stove and our friends say it looks so good it should be in a magazine. The shop staff were so helpful and patient - even ordering special parts for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The fitting team were brilliant. We couldn’t believe they got it in without any mess or redecorating. Would highly recommend.

Really disappointing experience and dragging on far to long.Fire was installed on 23rd April and I’ve been chasing for weeks for them to come and finish the job. When you spend the sort of money we did you expect a much better service than we are getting.We were even without a TV in the front room for three weeks waiting for them to come back and fit it, which I had to chase up to get done.Finally I was told on Monday just gone (when I again chased up) that the marble was in the shop (why they didn’t bother to get in touch to tell me this and arrange fitting I don’t know) I was told by Dan they would let me know when they could come out after he checked the diary the next day. By 16:54pm on the Next day I hadn’t heard anything so I got in touch to ask what was happening and Dan said they were coming today the 4th June! to fit the marble hearth and finish the job so I took the day off work and waited.I have been trying to get an answer on what time they were due all week and Texted a number of times and also called shop to find out when they would arrive. Dan took three days to reply then said it was his day off when he did get back to me and The fitter would ring me. I replied asking for confirmation they were still coming but he didn’t reply. I waited and they didn’t arrive but I received a call and I was eventually told they were stuck on another job and couldn’t come.Being self employed I Lost a days pay by waiting in for nothing and if I hadn’t called I don’t think they would have bothered telling me they were not coming so I still haven’t got my fire surround completed.I will now have to lose another days pay to take time off again to wait to get the job finished when they actually get in touch.It is such a shame they have behaved this way as the fire was lovely but we have now waited over 6 weeks since they started the job and we still can’t enjoy the finished thing, it has really took the shine of our purchase.Please sort this out Dan and get the job finished without me having to keep chasing up.

I contacted the fireplace Durham as I was interested in changing my fireplace and surround. A representative, Dan, arranged to visit me very quickly. He was professional, friendly and extremely helpful. I decided upon my fireplace, however, I was unsure at first on the colour as I wanted a cast iron black fire and surround and was worried it would be too dark for my room. Dan, with his experience and knowledge reassured me. It was fitted as planned and I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome. The fireplace was fitted professionally with no mess or inconvenience and has completely changed my room. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company. The staff are very friendly and I now have a stunning fireplace which has transformed my home.

I had a Gazco Riva2 750 fire and surround fitted several weeks ago. From the very start, the staff in the showroom were very helpful and informative which allowed me to make my decision with confidence. The fitters were excellent and did their best to make as little mess as possible. Overall, I am delighted with the outcome.

This Shower fitted my fire 4 year ago. they damaged roof tiles and kept it quiet, I know it was these as I recently had the roof checked. They left an awful mess all over my bricks that took me 2 hours to scrape off. they walked away leaving 1/4 gap in the closing off plate

I don't normally write reviews but on this occasion I feel compelled to do so. Do not let the fitters or so called engineers from this company into your home. Their work is substandard and they are extremely unprofessional. In addition, when you have a dispute with the work undertaken they send intimidating text messages which the company is not willing to do anything about.Response: Your reply seems to suggest that I contracted some outside installer not associated with the FPG. The FPG recommended the installer and even introduced him as their senior installation engineer" prior to purchasing the fire. Furthermore

The Fire Place in Durham have recently removed my back boiler and chimney liner and installed a GAZCO gas fire which looks fantastic. The customer service and installation of the fire was excellent. The fitters arrived on time and installed the fire with no mess and shown me how to use the new fire. I would highly recommend The Fire Place and use them again.

Just had a made to measure marble fireplace fitted an excellent job done from the salesman to the fitting team .very little mess would recommend to anybody
