So I got back here after trying jd. My membership at Everlast is around £30/month with all classes and pool access included. The membership allows access to (almost) all other Everlast gyms & at any time of the day/evening (not just off-peak).Everlast has the best studios for classes in the area (good size, with nice dim lights and good air-conditioning, without metal pillars in the middle or a see-through back glass wall (as you may be able to see at jd). This gym seems more mature-female-customers-friendly comparing to my previous gym.Instructors generally respect your privacy and will not record you with their mobile phone/cameras during your workouts to post it on social media => a more relaxed atmosphere for members. You can come here after work, not looking camera-ready and just enjoy your workout as you should. The manager who was here is now managing the Byker Everlast and there is a female manager here. Who calls me 'darling' lol. The new fitness manager, delivers some good fitness classes but often turns away and ignores me when I come into the gym. This creates as bit unwelcoming atmosphere .I think that people who do not wish to interact with members should not sit in the front desk. The website was recently revamped but there is still room for improvement. Some silly features of the website include; 1. Every time you log in you are being reminded of you age. 2. Also several days before your next monthly payment is due, there is a red coloured message in your account saying your payment is now overdue, prompting you to pay it....a bit unnecessary since they payment is taken by direct debit. The main minus of this gym at the moment: no notifications sent out to members when a class get cancelled. Some classes just 'disappear' from the system after you have booked and the reception cannot be bothered to text or email you to tell you about the cancellation. Very disappointing when you wake up early to come to the gym on a rainy day, only to find out there is not class. Sending up the system in a wa it can send a text message to all booked members should not be difficult.Everlast has smaller number of instructors comparing to jd and the fitness manager can be seen doing multiple classes for members here. I personally think having more instructors and let members see some new faces is more interesting. The team of instructors seems to be getting smaller and smaller recently with majority of the timetable being covered by 2 people.Glad we have combat classes, however a good combat class requires good music and a new routine every few months.Using the same (too loud) music every week for 6 months is also not a +.The spin room still needs an upgrade. The decor is outdated (80s vibe), bikes do not show speed/rpm/resistance level and calories burnt during workout) are boring. Sadly, jd is ahead of Everlast when it comes to the spin room design in Sunderland .There is a new competition called The Cell with all new equipment in the city centre<- I will be trying and writing a google review for them within the next few months as well. The ideal timetable here would have 1. more instructors, 2. more (lighter intensity) classes such as yoga, zumba , pool & spin classes in the mornings. The higher intensity classes ie; lift/shift/combat style classes will attract most customers in the evenings.Nevertheless, the selection of classes is still ok and you should be able to find 3 good classes/week<- this + reasonable diet is all you need to stay in a good shape. Some more pluses of this gym; you can control temperature in the showers -so any temp. from cold to quite hot is available. There is always some liquid soap in the shower cubicles. Changing rooms are clean but without any cleaner 'living' in there and bothering members. Finally, Everlast gyms do not pay Trustpilot for 'artificially' inflating their online star rating. (dis)Trustpilot removes some negative feedbacks. I suggest when choosing your gym trust the google rather than trustpilot reviews.

It's a fantastic place to work out. There's a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and steam room. Exercise classes are amazing!! I love it..

Machines often out of use for a month before being removed and not replaced. Pool is often crowded, none of the showers in the gym work and they're stuck on boiling water temperatures so expect 3rd degree burns if you dare wash in the unsanitary showers.I can concur about the green lagoon and have seen staff using disinfectant to clean poolside showers which inevitably runs into the pool itself.

I use to come here years ago then I had to move so I recently re joined, I can't comment on the gym as I never used it, when signing up ect the staff were really helpful after that you don't even get a hello or goodbye, I have been swimming here now for 12 days it's very over crowded no matter the time, I tried 5-6pm 6-7pm 7-8pm 8-9pm I found 7-8pm is mostly OK, but you only need a swim lesson to be on and 4 swimmers to fill the pool, I had enough when six of my workouts were ruined by lads messing around in the pool standing in the way, doing handstands it seems to be the same two all the time, today I couldn't even swim a full length I had to stop and wait for other swimmers mid swim, due to the two lads taking up a large section of the pool and being in the way. It use to be a great gym but I gave it 12 days half the workouts were ruined £35 to not to be able to swim in a straight line sadly I canceled my membership. The changing rooms were always being cleaned I can say the changing rooms were very clean

I've been a loyal member of Sunderland Everlast gym for years, but I have to say that it's not the same gym that it used to be. The staff turnover is high, and it seems like there's a new face every other week. This lack of consistency has led to a decline in the quality of the gym.The most significant problem is the groups of children and adolescents who come in and run amok. They misbehave and have no regard for other gym-goers' safety, often using the exercise equipment inappropriately and dangerously. The staff seems to have no control over them, and I've seen multiple instances where they could have easily injured themselves or others. It's unacceptable and puts everyone at risk.Additionally, I've witnessed a group of men wrestling on the gym floor, which is completely inappropriate and dangerous for everyone around them. This is another example of the management's lack of control over the gym's environment. The gym equipment is in terrible condition. The machines are often broken and not fixed properly, causing them to break again after just a week or two. It's frustrating to have to wait for a machine to be fixed or find out that it's still not working correctly after it's been repaired." It's a waste of time and money

This is the most well organized gym in Sunderland. They have all the machines you can think of. I love the pool part, cos after gym you can stretch and relax in warm water.

It’s became very chavy since being taken over by Everlast. People wandering about with no shirts on on the gym floor and over crowding are an issue.

I've slowly began to change my life at this gym over the last few months and that has been massively assisted by the professionalism and expertise of the the PT's (the ones I've met at least), James and Jonathan. I've hated the idea of going to the gym all my life but this is a welcoming place that I love to attend thanks to great facilities and staff.
