Lots of choice of sweets within this popular little shop, very colourful interior with the counter display proffering multiple delights. But I went in to sample the renowned ice cream and yes, it was tasty. I had a medium 99 which cost £1.70, glad I didn't have a small one!

Suggitt's Ice Creams
Went today with 3 disabled people who I support. One lady was a wheelchair user. We transfered her to a bench and popped the chair in a corner. There were no other customers in the cafe side at this time. The woman behind the counter looked unhappy so my colleagues asked it it was OK to leave it there. The staff member said not really, you'll have to move it if we get more customers. I think she needs to read the Equality Act. No please or thank you when selling us food. Two miserable unfriendly staff members.

Step inside and back in time and all the better for it. Brilliant ice cream (no fancy flavors just delicious white vanilla). Plus all you favorite sweets from years past. It's never changed and I hope it never does.

It's brilliant that Suggitts is still totally unchanged, after all these years.I used to come here as a kid and I usually call in for a 99 whenever I'm in Great Ayton.

Lovely ice cream, reasonably priced.Good selection of pick and mix, however nearly everything is priced individually and not by the 100g like nearly everywhere else I've been. As a result the individual items can be particularly expensive. Two medium ice creams, and the sweets pictured came to £4.33.Worth going for the ice cream and a walk opposite the road along side the river/small waterfall.

Great ice cream with huge sizes for the prices.Kind staff and generally short/no queues unless it’s sunny and then you have to watch out as there could be a big line!

Not sure how this place has the reputation it has. The staff are bordering on rude, the place is dirty and a mess, dead flies in the windows, zero attention to any form of detail. I asked for a 99 and she said what size, I said what size is there (nothing is on display, it’s all from another counter so you can’t see the cones or ice cream)? She said sarcastically “small… medium… large!” I said well as I don’t know what each is I’ll have the middle one. Even the guy behind me said “wow” at her tone. We then asked if they have any chocolates with strawberries in, she said “you have to tell me what you want or point at them as I don’t know what’s there”. Ice cream was ok I suppose.

Suggitt's Ice Creams
Best ice cream in the area and great value cafe. A local institution :) Thankfully now fully open again after Covid restrictions, including sit in cafe. Can get very busy on weekends and holidays, so plan accordingly. Not sure if their are staffing problems, but painfully slow service when busy at last visit.
