Great place, lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff (owner?), the dog!! Worth a visit. It was very quite when we went there but we're told it does get busy very often.

Highly recommended. Popped in for quick pint on way home. What a fantastic place. Great choice of real ales, (no stars in my review for food because they just focus on excellent beer and atmosphere. ) What a refreshing change. A proper" pub."

Superb beer and a great atmosphere, very small so you might not get a seat but usually strangers are happy to share a table with you. Personal favourite is the Rivet Catcher which is a regular fixture but they have an abundance of guest ales on too. Well worth a visit!

Fantastic little pub, well kept real ale, great atmosphere, very cosy and friendly. Landlord a great character, full of chat and very knowledgeable about the beer. Great craic all round.

Astonishingly good pub with a great atmosphere and a good welcoming. Me and the dog were strangers in town looking for a good pint whilst my wife did a bit of shopping. Really well served beer and the pub has a well deserved listing in the good beer guide.

The Tanners Arms is a quirky, characterful, 19th century, dog friendly, food-free, pub which opens early afternoon. It serves locally brewed real ale.Mostly open stone walls and flagstone flooring, with the quirkiness confirmed by the fact that there is a tree in the middle of the pub!Our dog Glen was very warmly welcomed by the barman, as were we, but thankfully the barman only tickled Glen!

Lovely ale house. Quirky with a tree in the centre of the room. Ever-changing range of excellently kept real ales. Single room. Very proud landlord, keen to show off the beers. Best beers in Alnwick

A gorgeous traditional pub..no food which was fine..really friendly staff and locals. As tourists we were made to feel really welcome..loved this place
