PureGym Exeter Fore Street

Overall great gym with good equipment..but the main issue I've found is that I'm usually hunting for carabiners during busier hours as these are missing from multiple machines, I've been told this is due to theft but never seen this happen before at any gym, including ones in London and surely this can be monitored by CCTV and members can be banned as it's theft?Also the water machine on the 1st floor has been broken for at least a couple of weeks now and while the PT's do seem approachable, I was advised by the first one I spoke to that they only train female clients- absolutely nothing wrong with this and I'm sure they have their reasons - but I would recommend putting this on the PT board up on the wall to avoid any confusion from clients that they're not taking on/them wasting their time going through emails etc :)

Left to your own devices, hold up expectations of cleanliness and everything else flows naturally. Good atmosphere and great gym on the Core membership, specifically (more freedom on time at gym so you can avoid busy hours).

Chewing gum update: I've been coming to this gym for over 2 months. On my first session I noticed some gum on one of the fitness machines, it's not particularly hidden... It's still there today.Too busy, difficult to find free equipment without waiting. Toilets smell very bad, this isn't a one off, it's consistent. Many broken clips or accessories on cardio equipment. Not as good as other pure gyms.

Alright gym. I like group classes but had very little success with them. Lots of no shows and cancelled classes.Very busy at peak times

My first experience at the puregym Exeter fore street wasn’t pleasant, in less than an hour that I was there some girl stole my jacket (which wasn't cheap and besides it's unacceptable something like this happening especially in a place that has cameras) that was hanging exactly in a place to hang jackets on the women's changing room, I'm responsible for my stuff, but what's the point of having a place to store the jacket if I can't trust leaving my jacket there? Should I workout with my jacket always on my side? I went to ask for help and the girl who was in the management was “nice”, but she could have helped me and checked the camera footage while I was there, but instead she said I need to get in touch with the police (??) in short, no help from management , anyway, very unpleasant situation in the last place I thought something like this could happen, but here's the warning for you. And if you see someone wearing this jacket, it was mine ;)

Verry friendly gym, the staff were kind enough to help me get started in the gym and gave me work out ideas.

Very good array of gym equipment. Was disappointed to see that the lightest dumbbells are 6kg which is confusing, I was unable to do isolation work on shoulders, and my smaller female companion couldn’t do any dumbbell work at all. This surely needs correcting.

Decent gym, right in the centre of Exeter near most public transport, shops, etc. However the space is used very inefficiently with treadmills taking up a quarter of the gym and mostly always empty whilst free weights, benches, cables, etc having queues of people waiting to use. All I can do is ask PureGym to either purchase more benches and move them upstairs or move cardio machines etc else where and replaced with weights or limited memberships as there is almost always nothing free unless you go after 9pm
