The City Surgery
First appointment with the surgery with nurse Kirby who is an absolute delight to talk to, she put me at ease and was so lovely and bubbly, her and and the nurses are great. The old doctor not so much, I didn't want a flu jab and managed to avoid having it for a few years until one day he called me in for a health check and insisted on giving me the jab. He even lied and told me I had it the previous year! I corrected him and said I didn't! Then he stood over me repeatedly saying I should have it even though I already expressed I didn't. He pressured me into having something I didn't want or felt I needed. The old doctor I feel does not respect patience choices. When I moved house I gave them my new address, I received a letter from the NHS saying I couldn't be with city surgery anymore as I was outside of catchment and have 1 month to register elsewhere. In the meantime I had my bloods taken and was making weekly visits because the doctor said I needed b12 injections (which I wasn't happy about, not once did I see him wash his hands or wear gloves when admistering the jabs). The last visit was when they told me another surgery requested my notes (I hadn't been notified at this point on whether I had been accepted by the new surgery) so when the old doctor walked past me he gave the most evil stare an old man could give. I checked with the new surgery they had my files transferred except the results of my recent blood test was not sent over with my notes. How petty.

This one star is for the lovely nurse and the polite younger receptionist.Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. Do not go here if you want to be taken seriously. Especially if you are a student. Neither GP takes mental health seriously and you will just be told to practise mindfulness". My test results were ignored and only when an external healthcare practitioner requested the surgery repeat these tests (a year later) did they begin to take me seriously. One of the receptionists makes it feel like you are wasting her personal time when requesting an appointment and is sometimes heard shouting about you in the background if you are speaking to the other receptionist. This is unprofessional and could deter patients from making very valid enquiries about their health.I felt completely alone and unsupported whilst facing some complicated health issues and have since switched GPs."

I have had nothing but positive experiences here. Nice doctors and really nice, helpful receptionists. 10/10 service

Extremely rude and dismissive female consultant. Our telephone consultant lasted less than five minutes and I tried to arrange a face to face appointment which she suggested but she rushed me off the phone and deemed my matter not important

So I got and text appointment at 8 am which told me to be at 10 in morning as since last three days Were holidays and gp was not available. As I was sleeping I couldn’t see the txt. So I called them up to rearrange and they didn’t pick the call . So I went to hospital the lady at receptionist was so rude. She told me to call again and book the appointment.I called them again and unfortunately that same lady picked the call and again she was extremely rude she was like find yourself new Gp. Common she dosent need to tell me .Your at reception to do your job and make patients feel comfortable. Not to irritate them with harsh words.I know doctor is really kind as I talked to him previously.. but worst staff receptionist,, please look into this issue as people come to you guys to make sure they feel good not to listen your rude behaviour..

Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Lovely receptionist, both times I’ve called in I’ve gotten an appointment the next day. The doctors are lovely and really attentive, the problems I’ve had have been addressed and sorted really quickly, and I’ve left the appointments feeling really happy. The only slight issue I had is that prescriptions can only be picked up between 11-1130 - but this is understandable with covid, and you can just ask for them to be sent to another pharmacy to collect. Very happy, especially compared to my last surgery!

Passable enough GP service in general but the receptionist on the phone is absolutely five star rude. She redefines unpleasantness with a creativity I’ve not encountered before. The next time I’m ill, I may just shout my symptoms out the window into the street, on the chance that the pigeons can provide a better service… I suspect they might.

when i first contacted the doctors they seemed really lovely however this is where the positives end. i initially contacted them with tonsiltis and i had a telephone conversation where they prescribed me with antibiotics and i was happy with this as i understood due to covid they were giving out less appointments. however i rang again a week later as my tonsilitis had come back after finishing the antibiotics. by this point i was severly unwell, unable to eat drink or get out of bed and in lots of pain. all they offered me was a repeat prescription of the antibiotics and another telephone conversation with a nurse when i had completley lost my voice, with no choice to even speak to the doctor . i felt very alone as im an 18 year old student and it was my first time moving away from home. i had to be picked up and drove 5 hours home as i wasnt getting any better. i then ended up in a and e the next day and was told i had glandular fever which wasnt even brought up as a possibility in either phone call. i then was admitted into hospital for the second time ,where i was alone as no visitors were allowed due to covid, after still being severly unwell for over a month where i was diagnosed with severe tonsilitis aswell as glandular fever. the doctor also said the reason i had been ill for so long was due to me being misprescribed antibiotics originally as they gave me them for 7 days instead of the standard prescription of 10 days for tonsilitis. this created antibiotic resistant bacteria which i was only able to get on top of after 3 months of being unwell. this led me to miss a whole semenster of uni nearly causing me to drop out. i wouldnt recommend this gp at all they had no regard for my severity of illness and cant even prescribe the right antibiotics for a very common condition

Never had any issues here. Most of my dealings have been during covid, in which I spoke to the GP on the phone and sent photos of an infection via email, instead of a face to face appointment. This process was efficient and he wrote me a prescription the next day. I've also had to visit the nurse, who was extremely kind and put me at ease. The young receptionist is always pleasant on the phone, too. Overall 5 stars.
