As a group we were camping in the area and wanted some nice pub food. We went to the Bull inn and ordered drinks and sat in the lovely beer garden which is a fair trip down some steps. Then one of our group members went and ordered our food, the food came within 10/15 minutes which was pretty quick for five of us! Two of the group ordered beef chiabatta of which came as a white baton and an egg cup size pot of gravy and a cup of chips for £13! one of us ordered the chicken & peppercorn which was dry and also a cup of chips at a cost of £15, one ordered quiche which you could only describe as looking like a child's pretend toy. Then after the food was presented to us we asked for cutlery to which we was informed was a the top of the steps in a marque and to help our selves so by the time we got the cutlery cause there wasn't any! and condiments the food was getting cold. In summary massively over priced for poor standard & portion. Staff pretty friendly tho!

Totally out of the blue decision to stop for lunch, really enjoyed the food and service along with the Theakstons Old Peculiar, well worth the visit and certainly a repeat visit on the cards, might check the accommodation next time too

We stopped by for lunch on the 3rd Sept not knowing that it is better to book if you want to make sure of getting a table. The staff were lovely, as all Yorkshire folk are, and found us a table. We had the roast beef sunday lunch which was fantastic. The pub itself has a lot of character. We didn't venture into the beer garden as I cannot currently manage stairs but it looked a nice place anyway. Service was very efficient and polite. Will definitely return.

One dinner was very small (chicken) but pointed out to waiter and it was taken off the bill. Was obviously the last piece but shouldn't have been served. Platter boards very small for the Yorkshire Platter and food spilling off sides. Okay otherwise, pleasant staff.

Disappointed with the service is an understatement...We stayed in the area for a family holiday and as it was a nice day decided to pop into the local The Bull Inn for food on a Tuesday night. When we approached the bar to ask for a menu the first question was whether we had a booking. We found a table outside but before we could say anything apart from no..." The barman rudely interrupted saying that they were only doing food for bookings. Fine. We left.Thinking about giving the place a second chance as it was convenient and it looked nice

Quite traditional. English pub. Slightly tired looking inside but I like that for character. The garden is lovely and has a great view over the river.Plenty of parking.Decent beer and the food is of a good standard. If you're eating, try to book or ask about food before ordering drinks. I've made some impromptu visits this year and twice have ordered a round of drinks and then been told we couldn't have food because they had too many bookings. Maybe ask people when they arrive? Frustrating but probably a good sign that they don't want to compromise on quality / service.Friendly staff although one certainly made me feel like an inconvenience instead of a customer.

Visited today for lunch, we were made to feel very welcome and although we reserved a table in the bar the staff were very accommodating when we asked to change to the beer garden as it was a gloriously sunny day.Ordering food and drink had to be order from the bar , the process was simple and straight forward. Our waitress Caroline delivered the food to our table in the beer garden with an enthusiastic smile and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fresh and plentiful and excellent value for money .We would definitely recommend a visit to the Bull inn, not only for the wonderful service but also for the location and fabulous beer garden!Highly recommended 5 ⭐️

Popular and very busy pub, where the service was friendly and efficient. Food was ok, but not outstanding. Good atmosphere.

I really liked this place. The portions were huge and the setting inside and out was tradional with a modern twist. Gets very busy on Sunny days and tables overlook the river outside. Thickest wedge of steak pie I have ever eaten. Delicious and worth the money. Friendly vibe, highly recommended.

Stayed the night here last night and it was an absolutely wonderful stay. Our room was spacious, well decorated and comfortable with amazing views. We had our evening meal in the pub which was very nice as well. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful and we felt very well looked after during our stay. The Bull Inn is in a beautiful village and I'd highly recommend a visit.
