Beautiful location. Fantastic for those who wish to paddle board, kayak etc as starters. Car park(ish) is adequate but can be a struggle for space.

Lovely walk for kids to feed ducks then through hipper valley to the park does get very muddy down there though if its been a wet couple of days

Lovely little walk along the path at the side of the dam, not to much hard work involved, good if you just want a leisurely stroll.Lots of duck and geese, little streams to paddle in on hot day.

The Wobbly wanderer and dog were here recently.This Dam is just out of Chesterfield heading towards Chatsworth.It is best accessed from Somersall Park just off Chatsworth Road.Once you have walked through the park over the river and turned left follow the footpath to the left and carry on until reaching a small wooded area in front of you.Continue to your right along the footpath and on leaving the wood Walton Dam is on your right side .Usually there are a number of wild birds to see on the water.If you're hungry walk to the far end of the dam and just a across the street from there is Morrisons supermarket where you can buy a sandwich and a drink to enjoy back at the dam while sat on a Bench watching the birds.

Beautiful place to take the dogs for a walk. Flat paths, open fields, clean and well maintained. Only giving 4 stars because the parking situation has plenty of room for improvement and I think a couple of general rubbish bins and dog waste bins could be added to make it better for people who are using the area.
