About a month ago May 2023 I attended Halfords Stevenage store in order to get my fuse replaced as my wiper jet washer stopped working for my VW Polo. The staff member checked the car fuse and and said my fuse appeared fine. I insisted to replace the fuse to which he reassured me it wasn't the fuse causing the issue and for me to go to a garage to inspect. I must add that the staff member merely checked my fuse by eye and didn't use any fuse testing equipment.On 15th June 2023 I had an appointment with Halfords Autocentre in Welwyn Garden City for a MOT and full Service. I warned them in advance about the issue to which they said it would fail the MOT and they would try to sort it out. Upon completion they called me and said my MOT failed due to the washer jets not working, it was some kind of electrical fault that they couldn't fix and that i needed to attend another garage to rectify. On the same day I left my vehicle with halfords autocentre as I couldn't collect my car that day.Upon collection of the car the next day i spoke with the manager and clarified the issue. I asked him the wording of the exact technical issue but he said the mechanic was off that day and abruptly said it was down to the new garage to check out the issue. I didn't like his abrupt, short attitude towards me as if he didn't really care. He didn't even give eye contact as he was engrossed in his paperwork . However I let this go. I then immediately took my vehicle to a nearby garage and they sorted the issue within 10 minutes by replacing the fuse. I then returned straight back to Halfords autocentre and informed them. They said that their equipment didn't pick up the fuse issue. They said they could re test my mot the same day but that wasn't convenient for me.To sum up:1. Halfords Stevenage Store failed to identify issue and discouraged me from replacing fuse2. Halfords Auto Centre not being able to diagnose fault which is either due to incompetent staff or poor equipment which couldn't diagnose fault. Also the manager needs to improve his customer service skills.3. This has led to Halfords failing my mot and not being able to change the washer jet fuel, thus causing me extra inconvenience in booking a day off for a mot reAs a Halfords customer you have failed me on every level listed above and I have lost confidence in your expertise.I made a complaint to head office and they deflected by saying that their disgnosis doesn't check for fuse issues and that it is a underlying issue that needs to be checked by an auto electrican. However since the other grage has changed my fuse my washer jets are fine. Clearly no underlying issue. Also the from the customer service team (head office) the gentleman was blasé in his response when I said that staff need to improve their customer service skills as per manager's attitude from welwyn Garden City auto centre. A week later I called back to address the issue but they blocked my number. When I hid my caller id someone answered and said it was halfords Harlow auto centre and didnt know about any complaint and couldn't assist further. As such I can't be sure if my complaint got to the right department. Bottom line I'll never use them again.

LAZY CON ARTISTS, AVOID AVOID!Left my car at Halfords 5am this morning, as I work round corner at meat factory, and was due to have a wheel bearing replaced. (Easy job for a competent mechanic) However I got my wife to check on the progress. Instead a young cowboy gave a list to my wife of problems he thinks I have with the car which has stopped him replacing a bearing?I know for a fact their is no other problems with my BMW. Even if there were problems, How would a tyre below minimum tread stop a mechanic take the wheel off and replace a wheel bearing?Anyway I have my car booked in first thing Monday by a well established garage locally for half the price. Formula1 Autos. And they have warned me about previous punters who have been conned by these clowns.SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SHOP ELSEWHERE!

I recently visited the Halfords store in Welwyn Garden City as a member of the Halfords Motoring Club. My experience was mixed, primarily due to the contrasting attitudes of the staff members.One aspect that stood out was the difference in customer service provided by the employees. I found Rob's approach to customer interactions less than satisfactory. His lack of willingness to go the extra mile for customers and his tendency to keep them waiting at the reception for extended periods could potentially alienate customers. This experience left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer.On a positive note, I had the pleasure of interacting with Richard, whose helpfulness and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident. Richard went above and beyond to cater to my needs and ensure a positive experience. His exceptional customer service skills made a significant difference in my overall perception of the store.Additionally, I must commend the mechanics at Halfords in Welwyn Garden City. They demonstrated excellent expertise and professionalism in their work. The quality of the service provided by the mechanics was truly commendable, and I felt confident in their abilities to handle my vehicle.In summary, while my experience at Halfords in Welwyn Garden City was marred by the unsatisfactory customer service from Rob, the dedication and helpfulness exhibited by Richard, along with the skilled work of the mechanics, balanced out my overall impression. I’ve waited 4 weeks to post this in the hope that one of the Halfords team would get back to me despite numerous attempts to get hold of someone. I left my car for a major Service early on the Saturday, I then received a call at 1505 asking to come pick up the car… all normal protocol. It’s a 30 minute drive for me to get to Welwyn Garden City Halfords - I get there at 1615. To my surprise there is no one to be seen, Halfords is locked up, not just closing completely locked and lights off meaning that they had left a lot earlier. I checked the scheduled closing time which was 1700, I went next door to the quick fit to see whether I was going mad and they informed me that everyone from Halfords had gone. They had just left the car outside in an open car park without telling me after calling me out to collect the car (also knowing that they wouldn’t be in on Sunday). I would not normally write reviews but I have attempted to talk to the manager and he told me he would call me back with the information on this incident. 4 weeks later and still no call - I have tried to contact the main Halfords centre with my case number but still to no avail. A warning to anyone using this garage I would go to the garage just next door in order to ensure you don’t get messed around.

Last-Minute MOT Appointment CancellationI had a frustrating experience with Halfords when they canceled my MOT appointment just 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Communication was poor, and rescheduling was inconvenient. I hope they improve their customer service in similar situations.

Avoid at all costs! This garage has gone downhill, and it is clear the 1 star reviews that have recently appeared clearly show the failing of this Halfords garage. Avoid ESPECIALLY if you have a specialist vehicle such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes or Land Rover - these guys are only fit to tackle old vehicles which are non complex (even that I would question based on their technical knowledge and capability). The mechanics here are incredibly incompetent and appear to complete work by cutting corners and leaving vehicles in a not fit condition.Instructed halfords to replace my brake pads, however their lack of knowledge and poor worksmanship left the vehicle with the brake warning light still on and unable to clear it - they locked themselves out of the system by failing to use the correct equipment, not caring for the vehicle therefore leaving the job unfinished - leaving me with a massive load of costs and additional work to deal with.Spoke to the manager, his name was Rob who works at the centre and attempted to cheat his way out of the problem by stating because there was a mileage restriction they were unable to do this, where in reality they did not have the equipment or skill to clear the error and rather attempted incorrectly to update the computer systems they locked themselves out and came up with a silly excuse as to why they could not complete it. Incredibly rude, unhelpful and did not offer any form of gaurunteed solution, nor a refund. He simply palms customers off and continued looking at his screen. Profit over care and safety I would say.I argued clearly, why would they start a job when they knew they did not a) have the specialist computer equipment to finish the job in the first place and clear the errors on a BMW and b) why they failed to perform the appropriate checks to ensure they can finish the job in the first place.Halfords needs to keep away from more specialist brand vehicles, or train their mechanics thoroughly to look in advance as to whether they can handle the job, rather than comitting and leaving a half finished piece of work. Their lack of expertise leads to technical negligence and is incredibly dissapointing.Will be seeking to persue legal action should I not hear from head office to bring a close to this matter. Will keep the review updated.Do not trust these people with your car, you are much better and in safer hands taking it to either main dealer or a specialist garage for your vehicle brand.

I recently underwent a full service and MOT for my car in this centre at the beginning of October. However, in late November, my car engine encountered a fault. Seeking immediate assistance from another garage, they discovered that the engine failure was a result of a depletion of engine oil, necessitating the addition of an extra 4 litres during the check-up. Given my expectation that the engine oil would have been adequately refilled during the full service and the absence of any visible signs of an oil leak, the unexplained running out of the engine oil remains perplexing. I have decided not to return to Halfords for any future car servicing.

3 new tyres easily purchased, through The AA, when other suppliers couldn't get them, albeit, about 10% more expensive than elsewhere.Friendly staff, gave me a reminder call, installed in 30 minutes, and called me again when done. Left the car clean inside.Would use again.
