Just moved to Fairmilehead and went here for some grub with friends. Nice quiet place, friendly staff and nice food. Prices are good and portions were excellent. Decent rum cocktails too!

Aside from the guy behind the bar being really nice, there was absolutely nothing good about it.We weren't told that there was a very limited menu when we booked, which had I known, I would have gone elsewhere.There were only 2 staff and one chef when you had a booking of 40 people as well as 10 & 7 that had also rebooked.As a result we waited over an hour for our starters to even arrive!We had an elderly diabetic lady with us and a young child so I find this particularly upsetting. Over an hour for food is unacceptable, especially as the festive menu was being prioritised, so people that had ordered after us were being served first!As a result, we had to buy extra drinks that we wouldn't otherwise have bought and I actually had to buy snacks from the bar for my child because he was starving!There was no real apology from the manager and honestly, the food left a lot to be desired.The whole experience was awful and I certainly won't be back nor would I recommend the pub to anyone else.

I went in around 6, I was immediately seen too & asked where we would prefer to sit.Gentleman was polite & attentive.The place was quite busy around this time but the service was quick & our food arrived in no time.No faults, The chicken tikka was fantastic.Will be back.

Review update Oct 2023.Unfortunately back to poor experience.Our last two visits were very disappointing. The staff at the bar is friendly but the overall management is wrong. Waited 1 hour 30 min for our food… lots of table were served before us even though arrived 30, 40 min after us. Poor kitchen management.Our local spot. We've been regularly visiting for the last three years. We noticed a significant improvement over the last few months. We like the food options, great prices, good kids' menu. It's a family-friendly pub. It's spacious and cosy. They did redo the interior, and looks even better now. We also enjoy the outside terrace. Spacious and sunny. Free parking on site. They organise quizzes and live music.

We loved our visit to hunters tryst. The food was delicious and service lovely. We had the set menu & it was so reasonably priced and plenty of variety of food. Absolutely brilliant. Service was a little.slow but we were there for the evening so didn't bother as at all.

It wasn't busy, we used the app to order our food (2 x haddock and chips) a glass of wine and a diet coke. This wasn't as easy as it night have been since not everything on the hard copy menu was listed on the app. We paid for the order and waited - 30 minutes later we still had nothing. I went to the bar and was told that the app ordering wasn't working for drinks" (though it took the order and charged us for them) so the bartender gave me the wine and the coke and said that food orders were taking 30 minutes. I pointed out that we had placed the order 35 minutes ago - she said she would check with the chef. Our food eventually arrived a further 10 minutes later - some 45 minutes from ordering. First meal here in ten years. Won’t be returning. Booked online and in the special requirements box asked for festive menu.When we arrived waitress avoided eye contact and we had to ask the barman where our table was. We were told festive menu had to be pre booked and were met with quizzical look when I said we had.Then asked the waitress for the curry night menu which she went to look for. Saw her looking through the menus but could not find one. Next thing she’s off serving behind the bar. Waited 10 minutes and decided to leave.Shocking way to run a business.They have bombarded us with emails for months to come and eat there.Would NEVER go back!!!!No stars was not an option but would have been my choice.

Went to the hunters tryst on Sunday for a bite to eat and some drinks. Got the mixed grill and was impressed with portion size and tasted amazing. Staff were all lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back soon.
