GAIL's Bakery Wokingham

A bit scruffy/ like most coffee houses these days: tables, seats and floors need cleaning frequently and properly. Food OK, but coffee takes a long time to make yet still manages to be quite unremarkable, and served in cups without handles (you don’t need a handle since the coffee is not hot).Not really any better than most modern coffee-and-cake places, and a bit pricey.To be fair, coffee in Britain has rarely been good, and since the advent of the ubiquitous American-Italian espresso machines it just got worse.I guess I’ve lived too long: I like coffee strong, either black or with cream (preferable to milk) and never, ever, frothy.

Yummy cakes, good coffee but extremely small Take out/Eat in price labels with considerable difference. But a great place to unwind overall. I recommend the brownie

Normally very good, but today's cinnamon bun tasted stale which was disappointing, the coffee and ham and cheese croissant was up to standard. I think I overheard a customer being told he couldn't pay with cash! If this is the case then I think for a high street cafe this is unacceptable.

Gail's is always a favourite of mine; great coffee, delicious food and a nice place to meet friends or even spend the day working. The Wokingham bakery is an ideal location in town, with plenty of space to socialise and work!

Visited to so many Gail’s bakery across London, Henley, Windsor and many more but never come across the team behind the till in Wokingham . I’ve changed my IPhone to new and I had to sign in all my other apps including my Gail’s to get my stamps. But this app didn’t allow me to sign in when I was in the shop. Then I asked the team what happens if I can’t sign in and loose my new stamps which i spent over £20 that day including 3 coffees . The girl behind the till who had no smile on or understanding said that it’s to be be only the app to collect your points. Where’s the encouragement for the customers to spend more??? It was so dissatisfying. As in my experience with other coffee places did put the points on a new card which should be always the case as a good customer service or customer rights?! Instead being not friendly but stern and cold and with a kind of attitude towards “I don’t care that’s your problem”I do love the actual Gail bakery but it puts me off visiting especially the local Wokingham branch. Also not happy to pay Eat In charge for every single item you purchase and no cash paid policy in the bakery. What happens if you’ve left your card at home but you’ve got only cash to pay with?! Then double trouble embarrassment by these snobby team after you’ve ordered at the till…

Shockingly rude behaviour from the woman who was going to serve me this morning.the app is awful only works occasionally, this morning it was playing up again, she didn’t even smile at me as I said it wasn’t loading, there was no queue behind me but she was so miserable and looked so impatient. It’s not the first time it’s happened but at least the other staff have been polite about it. I was made to feel a pain, so I walked out. I don’t feel like returning again, with attitude like that when spending nearly £4 a day on a cup of coffee.

Gail's soufflé egg sliders are a must-try for any brunch lover. The eggs are cooked to perfection, with a light and fluffy texture, and the cheese is perfectly melted and gooey. Very few plant-based and vegan options. Staff are transactional and lack warmth. My coffee was prepared well and the food I did have was of high quality. There are much better coffee shops available a short walk away.

What poor customer focus. Having saved up on my loyalty card for a free loaf of bread, I was told that today the offer had ended yesterday. So having spent nearly £40 on bread at Gail’s over many weeks, the manager was not prepared to honour one free loaf one day late as I didn’t use the app. Very short sighted to not honour a loyal customer. I will find my sourdough elsewhere from now on!

Exceptional service at Gail’s Wokingham as always! Kind and friendly staff who know their menu well. Always lovely fresh baked goods and beautiful tea and coffee! The cinnamon bun is a favourite every visit and the flourless cakes are a surprising treat. Plenty of high chairs and push chair friendly. Can’t rate this place enough.
