This is the third time I have been here and the staff that work here are always incredibly kind to both my pigs and me.i am very sad to see them go but I have looked after them and loved them and until the very last minute my pigs are eating apples, tails curled and not stressed at all.We need these small abattoirs otherwise the animals will have to travel much further a field and if only large slaughter houses are left then it really does turn into a nasty industry where animals are not treated properly like the meat factory for Danish bacon!!!Thank you Newmans

Excellent service being provided to the livestock farming community. Ever tried getting a live pig into the oven ?No, I thought not.I would be very surprised if any of those complaining on here have actually taken the time to see how things are handled at this siteTake a close look at nature...you'll never sleep with the lights off ever again.

I called Newman's Abattoir T/As P.C.Turner & Ockwells Meat Co. and asked if I could come to the slaughter house the man on the phone said no when i asked why and in his words because it not a very nice thing to see and members of the public are not allowed in" his exact words - so if a man who is working in there can say that ........... what does that say! In this day and age is it not time this process is brought out into the open? Allow public viewing so that us humans can make an informed choice as to if we want to continue to support and be part of this practice. Why in this day and age is it being kept behind closed doors? If there is nothing wrong with what you are doing then let people in to see what happens. There has been a lot of not nice things seen in this world for people to realise that they aren't right and need to change so why should the slaughter house be any different?"

Good people running a good business, and running it really well. Friendly, professional and accommodating providing easy stress-free handling for my animals. A proper no-nonsense business. Highly recommended and setting an fine example to some that we've dealt with over the years, and would do well learn from.

Very rude and very very unhelpful. Possibly a bit racist too. I was calling up on behalf of my father to see if they provide a service for slaughter and skinning as we have a farm and would like to start supplying 100% halal and grass fed meat. And the man who answered the phone claimed i was breaking every law in thr country". He said this whilst interrupting me and not even letting me finish what i was saying. This place should be boycotted by all muslim butchers."

Decent people playing their appreciated part in our omnivorous society. They always show a respectful and humane approach to our animals each year which we greatly appreciate.

Phoned up, even after reading the reviews to request information of how the process is carried out, drove past today and no smell of urine, perhaps because of rain,but better than others imhave visited and requested information which was given unlike other abattoirs.

The place needs more pollution filters as on a warm day the smell can be attrosious. Also when trucks wait in Peabody Rd awaiting to enter premises the animal urine lays in the kerb. Health hazard

Very difficult to talk to. Treated like an idiot throughout the call.

I am very disappointed and disgusted my this company. We live close by. The smell of the urine is too strong and the animals are not looked after properly. This is falling under the animal welfare. We are concerned about the hygienic conditions and welfare of the animals.
