Plas Garnedd Care

One star too many. Pot luck with the standard of care. Some highly unprofessional attitudes for carers at home. Would never recommend to anyone.

Plas Garnedd was recommended to me by two friends, independently, who'd both had family members stay there. Both my parents have now, also, experienced the excellent care provided at Plas Garnedd. The staff are a most caring and dedicated group of people who go above and beyond to ensure their safety, comfort and well-being at all times. The rooms are well appointed and really clean. The food is great, with delicious home baked cakes. With the lifting of covid restrictions, activities and entertainment are provided, along with Friends and Family events. I too am always made to feel welcome on my frequent visits.

The Staff at Plas Garnedd Care Home are actually some of the most caring people I have ever come across. I can only assume the previous reviewer has somehow mixed up this Care home which offers Assisted living with another. Plas Garnedd have recently created Christmas themed Pods allowing visitors to visit their loved ones safely. Covid-19 has presented all care homes with a huge challenge this year yet the owners and staff at Plas Garnedd continue to put the health and safety of its residents first and foremost. I worked there a few months back in the kitchen and it was shambles, people that reside there pay a lot of money for the food and care they are expected to receive, I was told when I was hired to run a kitchen and I was told I'd be trained and receive on the job qualifications, I learned more about knocking a kitchen down as they are renovationg a kitchen at the time. The head chef was no good, learnt nothing from him apart from riping the kitchen out, the care side, some of the carers were professional and others would abuse their roles just because they wanted to go home early. Disgusting attitude by some. One day I was doing my rounds and the bedroom buzzer for one room was constantly buzzing so I checked on the resident, they wanted to go to the toilet but no nurse would go to her. They were all sat down in the lounge before change over shifts and I told them all that a lady wanted help going to the toilet and one nurse said she's always buzzing and she's just been and they left her, I was not happy about that as it was not professional, regardless if they have been or not its in their care to do what necessary to care for them even if they buzz 5 times wanting a toilet. It's their job. But like I said other staff were professional just a select few that didn't.

My mother lived at Plas Garnedd, Llanfairpwll, for 7 years until her recent passing. I cannot speak highly enough of the care she received and recommend them strongly. She experienced a homely family atmosphere, combined with a professional approach. Families and visitors were always warmly welcomed, and the home found a way of continuing this, safely, during Covid.
