Helpful staff and a great nostalgia place for me as i can remember being taken there as a kid. Competitive on pricing too

The shop is a vast treasure trove of modelling kit - every square inch of wall space is covered with trains, planes, tracks, scenery, characters, paints, books, cars... and thousands of other paraphernalia

The Owner/Manager of The Alton Model Centre takes care of you before you even enter the store. Good, understandable Covid protocols are still being followed. You ring the bell and are always greeted in a warm friendly way. The shop is crammed to the rafters with everything that the new or experienced modeller will require. But for me as a new modeller working with a Digital Controller for the first time, the support and expertise offered is simply superb. If you are like me new to this wonderful hobby, or an old hand looking to extend or upgrade, I strongly recommend visiting The Alton Model Centre.

My husband had a voucher to spend here and he was able to get what he wanted. The shop is very well stocked with almost everything you could want for your model railway.

I went into the shop with the determination to support local businesses but with the expectation that I would pay more than ordering from the internet. Not only was I surprised to find that a recently introduced product was actually available, but the price matched internet prices.The service was excellent and with the extensive stock I was able to purchase all of the 'obscure' items I had on my list.Don't be put off by the somewhat austere exterior, behind the door is a delight for all modellers.I will definitely be visiting this shop again.

Visited last Saturday. Just to say it is a dream model shop. Old school with all the stuff you want and more that you never knew about. Fantastic selection of trains, Scalex, models, diecasts,, kits, tools etc. Five or six ranges of paint.Wonderful place.I think I last visited twenty years ago on a trip to the nearby Watercress Line!

Great shop full of mostly model railways of all gauges plus models and slot car racing. Friendly staff and a right little treasure trove of a shop. Well worth a visit. Especially if your visiting the neighbouring mid hants railway.

If you are new to model trains come here and ask for help. There is a large amount of stock and good prices comparable to online.We came in a few months ago, unsure what we wanted and the owner started us off with some reading material and advice on where to start.We decided that starting a 1930’s Hornby model train set to work on through lockdown.They are excellent at helping you start in the right place - he didn’t try to sell us more than we needed at the start (he held us back in our excitement, suggesting we start with just a board and track and to come back once we were happy with the placement). We’re still in the process of learning but this shop has been an invaluable to understand the different makes, digital controls, models and everything else!
