Unite Students - Westhill Hall

Reception is absolutely useless been trying to collect one important parcel for three days now and haven’t been able to get it since reception has been closed for days and will not open for a further three days. I’ve asked staff around the accommodation if they are able to give me my parcel but have refused, and i’ve got more incoming parcels that i’ve had to reschedule the delivery since I know no one in reception will be able to actually collect them on arrival.

DO NOT GO HERE - staff are rude and unwelcoming (baring in mind I’ve moved here from 4 hours away), used to be better when it was liberty hall not unite. The reception is always closed randomly with no warning (usually at lunchtime, so obviously understaffed). It’s a dead social life here too. Choose a more modern newly built hallam accomodation instead over this one- AVOID HERE AT ALL COSTS

Absolutely disgusting place. Numerous issues that are never dealt with. The Unite staff will constantly lie in order to pacify you. You phone and make a complaint, the Unite staff lie. You email a complaint, the Unite staff lie. You speak to Unite staff in the office (when they can be bothered to open) the Unite staff lie. An ongoing issue that has now become a soap opera. The issue will not go away by telling lies. I'm keeping a detailed record of all the lies which will be used as evidence to Unite breaching their own contract.Update: It's now 1 week since I was told this issue was being escalated to a manager. Nothing has been done, nobody has contacted me, no phone call (you have my number), no email (you have my email address) nothing. Once again Unite staff do what they are good at, telling lies to delay anything being done! I will no doubt be updating this review next week!

The staff are extremely friendly here, always there to help with anything and asks questions about your day, in which they remember and ask how it's going when I next see them. They genuinely listen to all comments and troubles, such as maintenance with the flat and best places to go. I got to know Emily very well at reception, who is very helpful and friendly.The caretakers are also incredible; major problems such as broken hobs or showers take priority of course, however minor problems will be more than likely fixed within 48 hours, from my own experience. Again, the caretakers aren't only brilliant at their job, but they are very friendly and funny.I believe that security should not only be reliable, but trusting, and this accommodation in my opinion is the best compared to other friend's. One security member I would like to bring up is Paul. He works nights, and obviously working in Uni halls at night is a busy night! In addition, he is very friendly and if you have any problems not only regarding your safety, he is there to help.My flat was spacious with sufficient storage, and the bathrooms were quite small but I never had any problems. They use the circuit company for laundry, which many halls use and had many problems with the machines not working, but that was the company's fault.Location wise, the accommodation is fantastic; just under 15 minutes to city campus, three minutes to The Moor and three minutes to West Street. I never used a taxi, as everything was in walking distance.Overall, this accommodation is fantastic and I highly recommend it if you are wanting to go to Sheffield Hallam. It did feel like a second home to me, and the staff made a significant contribution to that.

It's spot on for the location right in the centre, down side is very uncomfortable mattresses best to buy your own topper to make it bearable, washing machines are usually broken down, office is usually shut and only open a select few hours through the day, bedroom's are ok size and the living room with kitchens are acceptable, you don't really get much for your money

I’ve lived in 3 different accoms in Sheff now and this is my favourite. Callum and Scarlet and Tammie and Lily are always happy to help no matter what the issue. The housekeepers and handy man are very nice and very helpful.Would stay again

Don’t go here. Reception is never open for the hours they say will be. The washing machines and dryers and laundry in general is disgraceful. There has been an an average of 2 working washing machines for the past 6 months between around 200 students. The place is half empty, the social life is awful. Kitchens aren’t awful and rooms aren’t that bad but so stuffy you feel like you’re suffocating. Go to the forge, elements, beton house or the gate instead.

Wouldn’t recommend! Don’t bother going to the tours there because they show you ‘show rooms’ which are bigger, nicer and nothing like what you’ll get. The rooms are disgusting and unclean. Maintenance took a month to fix my BROKEN bed and over a month to get me a shower door. Reception is suppose to be open every day yet they are always closed. Not worth the hassle!

Liberty hall, or Westhill hall as it is now called, was where I stayed for first year of university (2019-20). It was a very pleasant experience all round, although unfortunately cut short due to COVID.From day one, staff at reception were always friendly and respectful, and helped with any issues that I had. Although I encountered some problems with my room over the year, such as a faulty shower and bad mattress, they were fixed very quickly by the staff and to a high standard.In terms of the location, it was the perfect place in Sheffield, a mere 7 minute walk from uni, 2 minutes to west street and just as close to everywhere else.I would definitely recommend to stay here, especially as a first year student at Hallam.

The staff, especially the people in reception housekeepers and security guards, are exceptionally kind and accommodating. I am thoroughly more thansatisfied with my stay here. The rooms are spacious, and the room rates are reasonable. When my utensils went missing in the kitchen, the staff promptly replaced them with a new set whole set. They even relocated me to a different floor when I had a back issue. The staff members here are genuinely warm and welcoming. This place is not only tranquil but also boasts a beautiful yard, adding to my overall satisfaction with my brief stay. The room occupancy is low, typically only 3 to 5 people, creating a comfortable environment. Tammie and the rest of the staff are incredibly helpful. The establishment is impeccably clean, secure, affordable, and well-organized. Its location is also outstanding, and their app is a handy tool. They promptly notify you via email when you receive a parcel at reception, and their payment system is efficient. They provide 24/7 assistance for lockouts. I only wish I hadn't signed a contract with another place, as I would have loved to continue my studies here
