Speech Matters Speech Therapy

I struggle with Functional Neurological Disorder and Foreign Accent Syndrome; My speech is one of the main struggles I have daily. I highly recommend Speech Matters-Vicky is my therapist. I look forward to our sessions; filled with laughter, compassion, support and hope. The sessions are progressive at the pace best for me and my ever changing symptoms and the sessions flow so easily. I have been able to incorporate the tasks and challenges from our sessions into my daily life with support from my daughter; who enjoys taking the lead on some of our singing activities. Vicky has really been a light in the darkness of my initial diagnosis in so many ways. Thank you .

Sophia came into our lives when dad was quite late stage dementia. He couldn’t find words and the words he used sadly weren’t words that we understood. But we felt like there was something there underneath it all. There were times when he clearly did understand. But it was so sad and frustrating for me and my sister. Sophia spent time with him and nurtured his speech. She used a brilliant visual book that explained his life story that we all helped compile (which we now treasure ) and she talked it through with him every session they had together. We saw real progress in dad. We saw that he did have words still. And that sometimes he could read. He felt less frustrated because of it. Now sadly he has died but i know that i speak for myself and for my sister in saying that we are so glad that Sophia was able to work with dad in his last year. We know it improved his quality of life. We know he got great comfort from it. Sophia is a very gentle, kind person who is a wonderful speech therapist. Thank you Sophia for all you did for our father. We hope that other people with dementia find you and use your wonderful talents.

I would highly recommend Speech Matters Therapy. Victoria was absolutely wonderful during our meetings. She has such a warm, patient, caring nature and is extremely supportive and approachable.Victoria is nothing short of fantastic. Her friendly, professional and evidence based approach is of the highest calibre and more importantly is effective. Vic has helped me prepare for presentations for universities and supporting me with my stammer. She has also sent through lots of helpful resources that I can read and practice in my own time which I really appreciated.
