If you like metal music this is one of the places you should go for a drink.I went for the first time in years and it was as good as I remember. I won't leave it so long until my next visit.

A good rock bar with an intimate venue downstairs. Quiet during the day and lively later on. Cocktails are strong and 2 for £10. They don't have a huge selection of draft, though some ale available in bottles. Burgers are amazing!

Really awful! Most unfriendly people I've ever met. Drinks are so expensive. Heavy metal music terrible. Very dark. Like a portal to hell

This pub represents the true rock origin of Birmingham, quality rock music, cozy atmosphere, very clean, organised and well decorated that will make you travel back in time.Staff very friendly. If you like rock this is the place.

If you love metal, this is the place to be. Great music all hours and just what you expect to see in a rock and metal bar. Guitars and rock memorabilia all over the place.

It's a shame to see what was once Birminghams top rock pub by far, being ran into the ground by people who don't seem to care.I think it would be unreasonable to expect it to be like it was in the early 2000s when the place was heaving both up stairs and downstairs. The cost of living definitely has an effect on the amount of people going out on a regular basis, but it seems like there's no pride or care in the place anymore which is a big reason the place is usually almost empty on a Saturday night. Some weekends they have a DJ who plays a very limited selection of songs that their friends like, but most weekends it's just a juke box with people putting on multiple songs of the same band in a row. You'll inevitably get people queuing up Venga boys, Britney spears and the likes which play in full, but if you pay for some really heavy stuff to play on the juke box, the bar staff skip the songs because apparently S-club is favourable in a rock and metal venue.Back in the day Scruffies was probably the best metal venue in the entire country. The place was absolutely legendary! But now its just a shell of its former self, barely living in its own shadow and its a disservice to the Birmingham rock scene.

A friend recommended this place. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it looked very cool inside. In a great central location. It was a bit expensive for me but I say that about most pubs - I didn't pay more than I would've in any other city centre pub. That and how loud the music was inside (had to sit outside as I wanted to be able to speak with my friends) are the only reasons I gave 4/5 stars. Would like to visit again, spend more time and maybe try the food. I like that it's not a chain, I prefer going to independent places. Apart from the somewhat small main room there is also a downstairs and some outside seating. Definitely recommended if you're looking for somewhere cool to have a drink at around the centre.

Awesome little alternative pub with a good atmosphere and friendly nbar staff and downstairs is a tiny room for live music, it's probably about 50-75 people max cap but great for a really personal show.
