I love attending lessons with the Swing Era! The teachers are very passionate and knowledgeable, the dancing community is friendly and welcoming and lindy hop is so much fun!

The Swing Era offer exciting, progressive Lindy Hop and Charleston lessons, as well as workshops, individual tuition and social dances. The classes are taught by teachers that clearly love what they do, and can accommodate the full range of skill sets presented in a single class so that each student comes away having learnt something new. Martyn and Suzanne have really helped me improve both my confidence and my dancing by providing such intensive, and supportive classes. Everyone should give The Swing Era a try!

This is the friendliest, most welcoming, and most pedagogically sound Swing dancing class you will find. I have been to other classes, not just in Birmingham, but all over the UK, and I can tell you The Swing Era is unbeatable. They create a relaxed environment in which it is easy to learn with confidence. Martyn, Suzanne, and the team are not only excellent dancers, but excellent teachers too (which for beginners can be more important). Their teaching is so clear, kind, and patient. Classes are good value for money, great cardio, and very sociable. The Swing Era runs classes, workshops, social dances, and also offers private lessons. I reccommend The Swing Era without reservation.

I've started lindy hop classes at The Swing Era in October 2016 and I've been loving it ever since! They are lots of fun and competently led by great teachers. There is a lovely sense of community within the school, with interesting and friendly people who you can meet, talk to and dance with at social dances organised on a regular basis. The Swing Era also offers workshops and other social events so I feel that there is s lot to choose from for everyone.

The first lesson I had with The Swing Era a year ago was so much fun, and I've kept going since. They give you plenty of chance to practise what you've learnt in the lesson and are very happy to help. The teachers are funny & give me great tips to improve on my dancing. Everyone there is friendly, too. Now they have a Performance group on a Monday night, which means we all get to learn complete Lindy routines and learn them well through repetition and perfecting them, which is fantastic. I love going dancing on a Monday night with these guys, would highly recommend!

Taking up swing dance classes with The Swing Era was the best decision I made in 2017. What started out as a fun way to get fit has since developed into a passion which I have every reason to believe will last for years.Martyn and Suzanne are friendly, supportive, encouraging and a great team!They are also great at working with people of all levels and experience, whilst always paying attention to the individual needs of each and every person. What I really enjoy about The Swing Era classes is that each lesson is really well structured, thought through and designed to continually improve your dancing with each and every class.Classes with The Swing Era are always the most enjoyable and stimulating time of my week, I always look forward to them and always leave smiling wishing that I could just stay there the whole day.I can hardly express in words just how grateful I am and how lucky I feel to have discovered The Swing Era; swing dancing has truly been the most fun, rewarding and motivating thing I have done in years.

I found out about the Swing Era thanks to a friend that invited me to a drop-in session. I will never be thankful enough for that day! I have not danced before and have always been reluctant about it. Yet, since I started the courses, I have learnt a lot and I am truly enjoying it. Martyn, Suzanne and the other teachers put great effort into helping you with any difficulty you may find during the classes, which are very well structured. Breaking down steps and moves is so helpful especially at the beginning!What I find so special though is that the Swing Era is also a community, lively and warm. It brings together locals and international people that mingle thanks to the social dances, live music gigs and festivals. I highly recommend everyone to go the socials, it is a great opportunity to meet and dance with people of different levels and make new friends. I know it may be scary initially; but do not worry, everyone you will dance with is patient and friendly. So dare challenge yourself, because it is really worth it!

Dancing with The Swing Era has been such a transformative experience as I had never been to dance classes before - teachers are amazing, and the community at large is so friendly and welcoming that I never felt alone in any class. They regularly organise socials and events with live music which are so much fun! I've been missing dancing with The Swing Era throughout the earlier stages of the pandemic

I came out of every class smiling from ear to ear. The teachers are experts at what they do, and I learned such a lot in a short space of time. Even more importantly the teachers were so welcoming and friendly and the structure of the class meant that you got to dance and feel comfortable with everyone in the class. The obvious joy the teachers feel with the dancing was infectious. I can't wait to learn more. Thanks so much for such a positive experience. It was, by far, one of the best classes I have attended.
