Such a tranquil, peaceful walk. A nice sunny afternoon in late October is best spent outdoors. Its definitely worth a visit, the paths around are not very muddy, but if you have wellies I'd bring them. Not many parking spaces but we have never had any issues parking. Not very busy either considering it was a lovely day.

This nature reserve has a path all the way around. There are 2 places to park. You can park at thrapston gravel pits which is behind Nene valley surgery thrapston.Drive down the thin road at the side of the surgery to the left.Parking is free. You can also park in Aldwinkle in a small car park off of Lowick Lane next to the bend.Dogs must be kept on leads. The paths are fairly easy but not suitable for pushchairs.Very muddy in winter. No toilets or cafes.A few benches to rest on, on the way around.A few bird hide huts too.It took us an hour and 15 minutes to walk around at a fairly slow pace.A nice non commercial place to walk, and you can make the walk slightly longer with a few off shoots if required.

Loved walking around the reserve, we had a very autumnal walk, saw lots of birds and wildlife.

Great walk, parking is at Auldwincle, or park at meadow lane, thrapston. You can walk around the lakes, takes over 1.5hours, as the smaller lake is fenced off. I done this walk on my own with Buddy, I felt completely safe. There are plenty of various footpath tracks to explore. Loved it.

Hides are too far away from the lakes and the slots are too small and low so constantly bending down to look out . Good if you want to walk a dog or have a run but no use if you wish to take photos of the wildlife or even look at it. I was very disappointed.

If you can find it there are marvellous views to enjoy both over land and water. There are e an twitches hides with graphics. The car park is small and there are no facilities. Why is it so well hidden?

Amazing walk around the lakes, some good views from the hides. Will have to head back in a fews weeks to see the little ones, that I'm sure there will be.

A real hidden gem. About 2.5 miles loop around the lake and river well maintained short grass. Boots if the grass is wet.

A quiet, free to use car park is the gateway to a good walk and the potential for some birding. The walks can get a little muddy so best bring wellies or walking boots. There are few amenities (none) so a packed lunch and some water is essential. It’s easy to spend a couple of hours strolling and popping into hides.
