Called into the Old Clock Shop for the first time this week, will certainly not be the last.Dennis was more than helpful with his advise about my old cherished watch. I can't thank him enough. He spent time explaining what I needed to do to look after it and didn't charge me a penny. Thanks Dennis.

Some years ago on clearing out my parents house I made sure I kept the little clock that had been there all my life. A Westclox Made in Scotland. A pleasing art-deco design wood casing encompassing a four inch diameter clock face. It had not been going for years so must have a good clean and plenty of TLC before I would try to get it going. Where to go?The Old Clock Shop in Dumfries has an interesting shop front and even more so inside. There it got all the TLC it needed and on Thursday I collected it. It has a very pleasant little tick tock.

We took my late mums clock for repair. It hasn't worked for years. This was my first visit to Dennis. Clock repaired within a week, quoted quickly, polished with no extra charge. Superb in every way. Outstanding service. It's not just about getting a repair, its dealing with Dennis. What a nice guy, professional, friendly, highly knowledgeable and displays a genuine passion for clocks. I could not give any negatives and can only describe our experience as faultless. A pleasure to spend money with dennis. We will of course be back and will tell all our friends.........thanks so much Dennis......you made our day.

THANK YOU SO MUCHI love this shop and all its treasures. I lost my mum just over a year ago. Since then I have been wearing her engagement and wedding ring. To my horror one day I noticed I had lost one of the stones out of her engagement ring, after being told by a couple of jewelers it was only worth scrap value I spoke to Denice who said he would do his very best to to see if he could find a match and repair it for me. When I went back you can't begin to imagen my delight when I went back to find it looked exactly as I remember her wearing it so now its back on my finger and I wear it with loving memories of my late motherOne Happy Lady

We recently had our antique grandfather clock restored by Dennis and were overjoyed to have it back home, its comforting tick once more providing a reassuring background to our evenings and its chime marking the hours. He is obviously an absolute clock fanatic and seemed to derive as much pleasure as we did in seeing it restored to its former glory. He picked it up from our home and returned it when the work was completed to ensure that it was correctly set up and balanced. Would recommend him to anyone needing the services of a consummate artisan clockmaker. Thank you Dennis.

Truly appalling service. Charged me £390 for a defective repair to my antique clock. Added insult to injury by failing to turn up to three appointments leaving me sitting waiting for hours while his mobile and landline both went to answerphone and messages were ignored.. Clearly the two year so called warranty is not worth the paper that it is written on. I wish I had never used this company.

I would thoroughly recommend the Old Clock Shop. I inherited my great grandfather's clock not knowing much about it,but knowing it needed some TLC. I took it to Dennis who showed a great interest in it by giving me some background to this very old clock. He cleaned and refurbished both the clock mechanism and the case and got it working again. It's now back home pride of place ticking away on my mantlepiece.I can't thank Dennis enough for the care and attention he took over my clock and you can be reasured that if you have an old or unusual clock or time piece that needs fixing Dennis is you man!Thank you.

Excellent service and work. We had a very unusual ball powered clock which needed service and repairs. Total confidence in the work know the job was well done. Having already had 3 other items serviced before. Knowledgeable with genuine interest in the pieces and we learnt a lot too. Definitely recommended if you have the unusual timepiece that needs an expert. This is the place to go.

Fantastic little shop with beautiful antique clocks on display. Horologist Dennis Smith did a great job of repairing and restoring my childhood clock, which had been broken for decades and is now working again, for a very reasonable price.

It has been over a month since I got my Tissot watch repaired and it is still working perfectly. We agreed a price for the repair which was more than fair for the make of watch. Dennis has a unique character but rest assured this man knows how to repair clocks and watches. He also checked my barometer at no extra cost.
