Chequers Shoes

Good evening,I came into the store late today and was served by a lovely young lady whilst the older lady was sorting stock and the other young lady was hoovering (shame she couldn’t stop hoovering so we could hear ourselves talk really ) . Anyway the young lady was doing an amazing job until the manager came in having brought two coffees he then asked the other young girl who had finished hoovering to take over serving us . The young girl who was serving us had stopped doing something on the computer, because her other colleagues were too busy to serve me .Anyway my point being the manager was so rude to the young sales lady telling her she shouldn’t of left the computer did he not want anyone to serve me ?? , he is a manager not a monster. Your manager needs to learn to respect his staff and learn some manners .I was embarrassed for her by his behaviour , it was awful and he was old enough to know how to treat people better !!Regards Jacqui Sweet

I number of years ago I had a health condition that lead to me needing some extra wide shoes, chequers where superb and got me into some lovely sketchers.Since then my wife and I have always used them, both for work and play. mixing sketchers with some lovely joseph seibel they have always been there with the stock to meet our needs.Even when comparing store prices to online, when you take into consideration delivery the prices are comparible and sometimes even cheaper in store.Shops like this make the highstreet and need all our support, I have no connection with the store but would highly recommend them

I have narrow feet and my partner size 12 wide feet. Shopping at Chequers is an absolutely joy. They know their stock, they match their stock to their customers’ requests – all in a relaxed atmosphere - PLUS, there is plenty of choice for those who don’t think there is! And, if its not in stock, they’ll order it in. Shop once and you’ll be a regular appreciating personal service from Rod and Claire.

Manager was rude, aggressive & threatening towards me with his words tone attitude & sarcastic comments. I noticed online that 2 identical card transactions had been taken out of my account for 1 pair of trainers I had purchased 9 days previous. On the day I was told there had been problems with the card machine, I continued to use my card which was then declined. I cannot confirm using it a 2nd time and I'll explain why in a bit. I believe I paid cash as card was declined. This however was doubted by myself today as I have had 2 identical transactions taken out on the same day. I then wondered if one transaction was declined & the second accepted, that's what it looks like. I called this shop to explain my situation, the man on the phone, wasnt listening, was rudely interrupting me, would not let me explain the situation. When I said I dont know if card was used for payment or cash I was rudely laughed at and shouted at. I was told make up your mind, told both methods cannot be used for 1 transaction. I asked if he would calm down & listen to my reasons why I was confused, he refused to stop & listen, i then had to raise the volume of my voice to explain i had a TBI, a traumatic brain injury. That I had an invisible disability which was caused by 3 brain haemorrhages, said the frontal lobe to the part of my brain for my memory is affected, said to him hes not listening and discriminating against an invisible disability etc etc.... I was told in no polite way to shut up, that he doesnt care about my disability & that he will look into it in due course, then he hung the phone up on me. He did in a previous phone call explain that without a receipt for the trainers he wouldn't be able to do a thing. Denied saying his machine was ever playing up & said unlikely it will be solved. I think it's clear to see that not just myself but others have found they've experienced the same ways attitude & manners of this apparently nice shop owner. Surely we cant all be wrong. Must say, nice and helpful when purchasing the trainers, very different experience when questioning a purchase or suggesting his shop had taken unauthorised payments from my bank account.Either paid £106 or £159 for a pair of trainers that were £53.10That's just my experience.I will not be shopping there again. Not a chanceUpdate.... bank statement with your registered business name & number good enough for you? Where it has 2 transactions which I was told declined & you taking my money?Look forward to seeing you soonUPDATE...So after all of this & telephone calls telling me his shop hadn't taken any payments from me, I then get a text from a third party asking me to call regarding this matter. Upon answering I was told by a man apparently called Keith that both card payments taken from Chequer Shoes would be debited back into my account. Oh so the payments the shop denied taking? The 2 payments that I questioned? So I was right i asked? I paid 3 times for 1 pair of trainers? Once cash & twice on card when told they declined? All I got back was a yes, the person then ended the call.No apology from this person on the shop owners behalf, nothing.Unreal

A very pleasant experience.I went in for school shoes for my 10 year old daughter who is a size 6/7. In other shops I had to choose adult shoes as they didn't go to this size in childrens shoes. This meant that not only were the shoes too wide (she still has narrow childrens feet) I also had to pay adult prices which for the same shoe were £20-£30 dearer.Chequers stocked childrens shoes to a size 7. Perfect! She ended up needing a size 7, slim fitting at for the standard child price.I also had my two young bored boys with me, the man (who I believe is the owner) was fantastic and patient with my very talkative, slightly cheeky boys whilst still giving the care and attention to make sure my daughter got the right pair of shoes.The shoes are also fabulous quality, they look great, have laces which my daughter wanted that are adjustable and a side zip for convenience. We won't be having issue of how long she takes to get her shoes on in the morning!I have shopped her on a few occasions to but shoes for my children, and always recieve excellent customer service and will continue to use this independent shop!Thank You!

Absolutely excellent service. Ordered on the website just after 5pm on Sat for click and collect the next day, received a call within 20 mins asking if it was convenient for my order to be delivered to my door within the hour - Amazing! I've used Chequers Shoes for quite a few years now for myself, husband and the kids and we've always received great service and advice. I love the range of school shoes, fantastic quality and hard wearing. Both kids have narrow feet and I can be certain that they will be fitted with shoes that are spot on for their awkward growing feet! Absolutely superb service. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful to make sure that the fit for my daughter's school shoes was perfect. Recommended the best shoes for her very narrow feet and made the whole experience stress free (unlike visits to other well known shoe shops). Fully recommend, a very positive experience.

Exceptional customer service. Ordered two pairs of Skechers in a 5 and 6 after reading online they come up on the large size so was unsure which size I wanted. Chequers Shoes were the only stockiest online that had this particular style I was after (and they were on offer, bonus!) I ordered late Saturday evening and received a phone call Sunday morning asking if they can be delivered to me that day! As I Didn’t know what size I wanted to keep the gentleman offered to stay at my doorstep whilst I try them on so he could take back one pair which meant I didn’t have to worry about returning them after delivery. To say I was overwhelmed at this level of customer service is an understatement. I have never experienced this kind of customer service from any other high street chain or independent retailer. The gentleman was very professional, polite and very knowledgeable of the brand. I’m SO pleased with my purchase and with the customer service and I wouldn’t hesitate to shop with Cheques Shoes again virtually or in store! Thank you for such wonderful customer service.

The staff are so lovely and very helpful. I took my youngest daughter in last week for a pair of sketchers for school and then my oldest daughter today and normally this is very stressful as she has size 9 feet and is only 15 years old. First pair of sketchers tried on fit perfectly I couldn’t believe it! I shall be returning here to shop for my shoes from now on! This shop has a very good selection of shoes especially for me sketchers as I live in them. Thank you so much guys I totally recommend this shop!!!

Wow, amazing customer service.Ordered a pair of trainers yesterday online to pick up today and they were delivered to me yesterday, Easter Monday!
