Had an extended out patient visit and needed lunch, it was Friday so had fish and chips. Didn't expect the Ritz so it met expectations, cheap and cheerful what's not to like.

Very good local place to eat. Great value meals and hot drinks. Being updated now with brand new professional Barista style coffee machine. And new look for dining room area possibly coming in further improvements to services. Food is good and nicely priced. Reopened now after a week closed for part refit. Result is more specious looking serving areas. Open area to centre of room feels more specious. Staff here excellent one and all. Without exception. Situated inside of the Queen Victoria Hospital just off the front staff car parking area. Opens seven thirty am. Food served till around half two hot dinners. Dinner starts at 12pm after breakfast finishes at 11am. Coffee and teas and snacks and soft drinks available all day from 7.30 am. Highly recommended. I have favourites here for breakfast. And some of the main meals are pretty awesome to be honest. Shepherds Pie. Cottage Pie days of Saturday and Monday dinners my absolute favourites. Friday is fish Friday too, that's very good I think.I think this is surely hands down one of the best restaurants in the South East regarding hospital ones. And definitely the best one of all in the whole East Grinstead and surrounds areas.Increased menu now too, with many more different meals offered and very good non meat vegetarian options to the menu.Breakfast nicer quieter times early mornings around 8.30 onwards. Gets nice and quiet after breakfast ends around 11 am till 11.30. Sandwiches still available 24/7 throughout. Then dinner luches are available from just approaching 12 pm and dinner servings in full swing from 12 to about 2.30ish according to demand/availability. That is impressively every single day of the week.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE CELIAC DISEASE. The lady didn't seem sure if my food would be gluten free. She went to check and came back and said yes it is. She also said they cook chips in the fryer to.. so I asked if she could check that they are gluten free. She said they were. I'm not even confident that she even checked. I've been suffering for almost a week now. It's soooo un fair. Being a hospital and having a massive sign to say ask a member of staff for help if you have an allergy (although this is a autoimmune disease) I would have really liked to believe they would have a good understanding about allergies and cross contamination. Pretty sure no one will care about this comment at all. But atleast it can warn others not to eat there.

I've had the pleasure of using this cafe on days of my sons appointments. His 20 this year, and we've been coming here since he was born. Food is delicious and fresh, staff are friendly and cheerful and atmosphere is really pleasant. The menu is fairly priced, especially in this economy. All round top marks.
