The Bridgewater Arms
An outrageously good snack. The owner Thomas went above and beyond to create the best place for a pint and chips for us post swim. Really wonderful spot and was a really safe space for me and my friends from London. Best stop off after Holme Fest

I had a lovely celebratory meal here last night. Enjoyed a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The cheese croquettes were extremely tasty. My steak was cooked perfectly and I tried to green peppercorn sauce which was gorgeous. I had the lemon meringue dessert which was so zesty and light. The Prosecco and wine was spot on. Will definitely go back.

Under new management since beginning of September 2021.Service and politeness very nice but the key or hub of any restaurant relies very much so on the chef and food quality. In this case food was not good and appeared to be hurried as other early arriving tables took preference and our wait was extended due to this. Being an old school house the atmosphere and decor strongly reflected that and lacked any vestige of romance - strong bright lighting not being conducive to a relaxed dining experience but more suited to a hospital corridor. Tables placed near to the bar are not a good idea - especially with a crowd standing at the bar.OK as a pub but not a restaurant. Cannot recommend.

I visited the Bridgewater Arms twice while staying locally with extended family. Everything about the place is just right. A warm welcome on arrival great service and wonderful food. Everything cooked to perfection for our party of eight . I cannot recommend the Bridgewater Arms more highly .

Came here for Sunday lunch and all I can say is wow. From the warm and friendly welcoming right up until we left was just outstanding. I loved everything about my visit, the original school decor, the menu, the food, the selection of wines, how attentive the staff were, even to my hyper 5 year old. You know you have a top chef when the 5 year old child wolfs down every last piece of food on his plate, and even managed ice cream for afters. I cannot wait to come back and try some more of this delicious menu. Well done Tom, Christine and your staff, highly recommend

Had a fantastic lunch here with my husband. The food was excellent - compliments to the chef from us both. The Ploughman’s lunch was delightful. My husband particularly loved the homemade chutney and pickled vegetables. I also very much enjoyed some croquettes. We will definitely return for the fabulous food, relaxed atmosphere, and the lovely front of house staff.

I wish there was a 6 star option!Went to the Bridgewater Arms to celebrate a friends birthday just after it reopened. From the incredibly warm welcome from the manager and waiting staff, to the exceptional presentation of food, everything was exactly what we wanted it to be!For starters I had the salmon which was very well presented. The duck for mains was delicious and incredibly tender! The choice of drink was plentiful and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming - I felt as if I was invited to a friends house for dinner!Thank you for a brilliant night! I cannot wait to be back :-)
