Supposed to be a dog friendly pub. Landlady made snide comments about presence of dogs in the bar last Sunday, yet what she needs to appreciate is that without the dogs & their owners the place would have been empty (every table had a dog) and she would have had no custom.Quite a tatty pub which hasn't had a penny spent on it in years, the toilets probably havent been decorated since the 1950's.Ok for a quick drink on a walk with the dog, but not a place you'd want to spend much time in.

Sadly, what was once a thriving local has been systematically run down and closed, in what appears to have been a cynical attempt to get a change of use and sell the building as a house (thereby dramatically increasing its value). Unfortunately for the owners (who, nearly three years after closing their doors to the public, are still living in the building, in breach of planning permission):1) the pub was registered as an asset of community value while it was still open2) by running the pub into the ground, its market value has plummeted3) by treating several of their few remaining customers and most of the villagers with disdain, they've squandered the good will that they had4) by messing the planners around, they've pretty much ensured that their plan is doomed to failThe upshot is that there's now a waiting game for the locals, many of whom would love to see the pub re-open.In the meantime, some of the pub's old customers have been arranging pop-up pubs in the village hall, featuring local entertainers and caterers, as both an illustration of the market for a local pub, and an opportunity for villagers to meet up and have a drink and something to eat. These have been very warmly received by most, and very well attended.

A real pub serving good local ales even has space for a pool table.
