We had an amazing experience with Mehmet in the Cuillins (Skye, 18-22nd Sept 2023). He was an excellent guide and instructor: taking his time to explain everything clearly, giving us helpful tips throughout the week, and always making sure we were safe and comfortable. His communication was excellent before we went, and we found meeting him over FaceTime in advance was really helpful to iron out any questions or issues before we started. During the trip he always made sure we were happy with what we were doing, and shared his thought processes with us so we could take part in the decision making (this was particular good as the weather for the week was inclement at times!). He is also super knowledgeable about the landscape, geology and plants, which was really interesting to learn about. As well as all of that, he is a lovely and interesting guy and it was a pleasure to spend the week with him! Would definitely recommend booking with Mehmet, and we plan to do so again in the future!

I was lucky enough to be guided by Mehmet on a 4 day course to bag the 11 Cuillin munros on Skye. I had an excellent time and really appreciated the personal touches and time taken by Mehmet to cater the trip to myself and the other person who was on the trip with me. His encouragement, reassurance, knowledge and skills put me at ease on these particularly tricky munros and helped me remain just on the edge of my comfort zone enough to be challenged but also enjoy it and feel safe. He went over and above to make the trip a memorable one that I will treasure, and I look forward to tackling some of the tricky ridge munros with his support in the future. I highly recommend his services if you are looking for a guide.

Mehmet was and exceptional guide. I was lucky enough to get a chance to join another person for a day, who was booked to do the 4 day Cuillin course. Mehmet's patience, attentiveness, skills and calm demeanour made my day memorable. His knowledge about the geology, mountains, the flora and fauna and a host of other topics made him also great company. The climbing was relaxed as Mehmet explained the routes beforehand and made sure we were comfortable with everything.I will definitly be booking Mehmet for future guiding adventures in Skye.

Mehmet was an incredible guide! He put us at ease as soon as we met and explained everything we needed to know, when it was required. He was extremely knowledgeable - not just the mountains - but about the area, the wildlife, the rocks, just a font of knowledge! The climb itself was so relaxed as Mehmet kept us informed, explained harder sections before we left the ground, and encouraged us. Same with the abseil - all really smooth and felt totally at ease.We’d time on the day to do more than just the In Pinn so Mehmet gave us various options for us to do what we wished. He also took some fantastic photos! Would highly recommend Mehmet as your mountain guide.

We had an exceptional two days in the Cuillin with Mehmet. The weather was mixed but Mehmet worked hard to make sure we fulfilled all our objectives.Before the trip we had pre planning video call. I haven’t done this before with a guide but it worked really well and Mehmet got to understand where we were in our experience and what each of us we wanted and built a plan accordingly.Over time we had I always felt safe but was also pushed out of my comfort zone (which is what I wanted) a few times.We will be working with Mehmet again and would have no hesitation in recommending him all our friends. We joined Mehmet for an incredible week on the Cuillin ridge in Skye between 18th and 22nd of September 2023. Mehmet was a truly excellent guide. He was knowledgable, supportive, safe and had excellent communication skills throughout the course. Despite relatively poor weather conditions we successfully ticked off 10/11 munros and learnt loads about how to move well in the hills. I just had one of the most amazing experiences taking in 11 Munro summits in the Skye Cuillins with Mehmet. In a group of three, with Mehmet leading, it was what felt like a highly personalised and successful four days out on these technically-demanding hills, including some difficult roped scrambles and the ascent of the In Pinn, and abseils.Mehmet is also the most friendly and approachable guide one could hope to meet. Not only this, he is a font of knowledge on all sorts of topics from mountain flora to, as well as an array of interesting non-mountain related topics! The conversation flowed making the days seem short. Perhaps too short - it's a testament to the experience that the week whistled by in a blur, although in reality I think we were out for something like ten hours a day on average!At all times I felt completely reassured by Mehmet's meticulous attention to detail, and knowledge of the mountains and weather, especially making contingency plans in what was not the ideal week in terms of rain and potential thunder. Also, at no point did I feel any question or mistake made by me were too silly (and I'm sure a number were!).Already thinking about my next experience to build upon this epic :-)Now, if only Mehmet could also control the weather....

Our day with Mehmet was absolutely excellent. His knowledge of the Cuillin and its history, geology and routes are superb.Safety is his number one priority and throughout the day he ensured we were always comfortable with the scrambling and climbing. This was my first time I had booked a mountain guide to help me on a mountain route. Although, I had already been climbing peaks for years alone and had built up a good skill level, Mehmet the mountain guide elevated my skill levels dramatically. It wasn't just how to move efficiently in the mountains, he taught me how to better use a map and compass, how to identify the geology, and flora and fungi. I went away from my experience with Mehmet on the Ring of Steall having had one of the best adventures of my life. Should anyone want to climb a mountain and not feel so confident to do so alone, or perhaps you have been climbing mountains for a number of years and would just like to elevate your skill level, I highly recommend Mehmet at West Coast Mountain Guides.

Recently had the pleasure of spending 4 days on Skye with Memhet who guided me bagging 10 of the 11 Munro's I had to do on the black cuillin.Memhet is a fantastic guide, I always felt safe and comfortable in his company. He is very knowledgeable on the geography and plant life on the Cuillin which added a lot of interest and learning into the days.He also helped me with movement coaching and how to conserve my energy over the 4 days.Would recommend him if you're are looking for a guide and will use his services in the future.
