The Catch at Cobbles
Originally visited Cobbles Kitchen about 8 years ago. Haven't been in the area for a long time, came back and saw it was still here and couldn't wait to eat.Cobbles was closed, but noticed The Catch. What a beautiful surprise, because the food was insanely good. Lucky enough to try their festive smothered chips which honestly stole the show so much, they should be available all year long. My friend has since been back just for these chips and took two friends who also loved it.Top tier. Easily the best chips I've eaten.

The Catch at Cobbles
Loved it here, the loaded fries where massive and very tasty (I had the brisket) easily feed 2.All cooked to order, perfect after a walk along the coast. Oh no matter how much you eat you'll still manage a deep fried mars bar!!!!!! Delish.

Went in 3 people behind counter, 5 mins before anyone of them acknowledged me, to say they were very busy (poor)ordered fish chips round fried ball forget its content, and Irish sauce the fish well overcooked batter uneatable fish dried out , chips dry.Sauce so thin never seen that before, the cook who put that in the box knew it was poor quality, why let it go?not a cook that’s for sure anyone will do obviously , drove to where we were staying to eat, short distance to find this. You have stolen £17 of mine and would like a refund. Rang to an answer machine ( never off) a few times left message, nobody’s had the time to ring back , I would like my money back please, if want poor quality fish and chips this is the place for you

Possibly the worst, most severely overpriced fish and chips I’ve ever had.The chips were burnt but soggy, not crispy at all, which is a skill in itself. The fish still has the skin on it which is always a put off for me personally. The gravy was runny unlike proper chip shop gravy and tasted like watery bistro. The batter didn’t seem to have any flavour to it. I did have the fried halloumi too which was nice but £6 for 4 thin strips is extortionate.Drive anywhere else within a 20 mile radius. You will almost certainly get better fish and chips and probably cheaper even with the fuel. One thing going for the place is the staff were friendly, but clearly not experienced in making good fish and chips.

When visiting this place with family who had a range of allergies we were really pleased to find that they have a wide variety of gluten free and other allergy aware choices. The fish was deliciously fresh, the chips really well-cooked and the portions and proce generous. The location is perfect for visiting the local beaches and other natural sites and the staff were great with an awesome music selection playing and friendly and helpful. There is also a mini children's playground with slide and climbing frame which allowed us to enjoy our food while the kids played. We got our fish and chips with other assorted extras from the van as there was a wedding in the main venue but we were very satisfied with it and we will definitely visit the main restaurant again the next time we visit Ogmore and the surrounding area. There a meat, fish, and an assortment of other options to please everyone's needs.Parking is ample and there was no queue so we received our food in less than 15 minutes. A small thing was that we also got a range of condiments with no extra charge - an added extra which makes all the difference. This was a great recommendation and thanks to all the staff for making our visit so pleasant.

Ever since opening, we have been to The Catch at Cobbles a lot as they are the only fish and chip shop with vegan options for miles around. It is usually quite busy and the staff were always friendly and as helpful as possible. The only downside about here is that occasionally the food can be quite greasy and over-battered. This has only happened on a few occasions in all of our visits. The last 2 times we've visited, they've not had any Beyond Meat sausages available. Fortunately we live fairly locally so it wasn't an issue but if you are travelling from further afield, I would recommend calling to double check before making the trip. The tempura veg is a personally favourite of ours as the kale always goes down a treat but the banana blossom and battered beyond sausage are also delicious. The chips are always cooked well too.Overall, the food is great here and being able to take it down to Ogmore beach to enjoy the view. I recommend taking a trip down to the beach and grabbing some food on your way there.

Decided to give this place another go as we wanted to eat whilst enjoying the beautiful view at the beach. Chips absolutely inedible as not cooked properly, all hard. Not exactly difficult to check if a chip is cooked is it? Nobody is checking the quality of the food before packing it up for the customers who are spending their hard earned money. We will not try again as we have wasted our money before with them. They really need to employ somebody with experience and get the basics right as looking at these reviews they are not learning from them.

Seriously , what has happened to this place ? Been on two occasions in the last month and sad to say the chips have been inedible!! Dry and hard with no taste . The prices are high so you’d expect quality … sadly not … 5.50 for a vegan battered sausage which is very small , £6 for a few pieces of fried halloumi that are not even battered !! Over £40 spent and unable to enjoy it . We gave it the benefit of the doubt after our disappointing last visit !! Sadly won’t be retuning or recommending a visit . Such a shame as we’d travel especially to go here as the food used to be great. Please don’t waste your time or money travelling here .
