Dovecote Farm Boarding Kennels
A very friendly and well run business, we put our 2 dogs in these kennels when we went away on holiday, we have picked them up today and they have been really well looked after! We were so impressed we have already booked them back in for when we go away in September!Couldn’t ask for a better service and there is nothing more relieving knowing that your dogs are in good hands when you’re awayThanks again

I first used Dovecote Farm over 20 years ago with my weimaraner Harvey, when he was around 7-8 months old and Ive been a valued customer ever since. Alan and Sophie treat the dogs like their own pets, they get to know their quirks, and are so accommodating with medications, any special diet requirements, or updates if you call whilst you're away. I now have two rescue GSP's who stay together and are in tip top condition and come bounding out after their frequent holidays. Alan and Sophie are wonderful, they always have time for a chat when dropping off or picking up, and have since become firm friends. I wouldn't use any other kennels in the North East. Thanks to you both for such wonderful service over the last 20 ish years x

I’m not sure how this place has such good ratings as I was appalled. Left my 2 dogs and cat here over Xmas for 2 weeks and the dogs came back skinny, absolutely stinking, and I mean to a point where I had to have my car valeted afterwards as well as the dogs bathed, and when I walked into the cattery to pick up my cat, the cages were pretty small and the whole place strongly smelt like pee. None of the bedding we provided was used either. The whole place just felt very unclean. In hindsight I should have had a look round first.Getting home, all 3 were behaving oddly too, never had them behave like that after any kennel stay. I’ve used kennels and Catteries all over for the past 10 years and I am fully qualified in animal management, have worked in vets and boarding kennels over the space of 15+ years so I’m well aware of the standards and how these businesses work and this is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to write a negative review on such an establishment. I know full well I am not the only customer who has felt like this after doing further investigation about this place which is why I am now writing this review.I hope since their visit the standards have been raised but I know for a fact they won’t be returning. On a positive note, staff seem lovely.

Lovely place. Very friendly, family run business. Kennels are secure, clean and well equipped! Jango stayed for a week during our holidays and came home feeling awesome. He looks fine, has clearly been exercised enough and has been eating no problem whilst he was with them. He doesn't even smell bad, which is usually a given after a short stay in kennels, really surprised that he hadn't lost a lot of weight or become very stressed out like he has at other kennels in the past. Cannot fault these guys, really pleased with how they've cared for my boy. (Photo taken day of pickup)Will 100% be using them again if needed, thanks for everything!

The people who work here seem lovely, friendly people and the kennels looked nice and clean. They were happy for me to call every day to check up to see how my dog was, she stayed for 7days when I went to collect her she seemed happy but on getting her home she was different, she smelt really bad, she has lost a lot of weight she is a whippet so naturally skinny but she is now unhealthily skinny I can feel her spine all her ribs and her hip bones as if she has not ate at all since being here!! Also she keeps scratching like mad as if she has fleas or is irritated by something Not only this but she keeps weeing all over the house which she hasnt done before and she is being very timid and anxious.

I left my puppy here whilst I went on holiday for a week. As he has a delicate tummy I left my own food, but I worked out he would have just enough for 6 days and on the last day I gave permission for them to use their own food and I'd deal with the messy consequences the next day. When we picked him up he had THREE FULL tins left! He'd been given HALF the amount he should have had and was absolutely starving when we got him home! He was also absolutely filthy and stank to high heaven. It looked like he'd been sleeping in his own dirt. Also, I took a bag through with some home comforts, his favourite toys, bedding etc as it was his first time away from home. Not one thing even left the bag. He didn't have any of them. The bag was ready and exactly the same as when I left it and they didn't even know I was coming then.I'm sorry puppy, for what I put you through. I promise I will NEVER leave you there again!

We leave our french bulldog here very often! The staff really care and are very accommodating to try and fit you into their busy business, my bulldog does lose a little weight when he's here, but that's because he's walked/ran about alot more than usual, and yes, he does smell a bit when we get him home (nothing a bath can't fix)But he's in a kennel, surrounded by other animals? What are people expecting? I think people are being a bit unfair and unrealistic on here! All in all, they deal with a very stubborn and hard to please french bulldog, he comes home absolutely fine! And for the price you pay, you can't expect a luxury hotel?Fantastic service and great value, they care about their business and their animals!Would highly recommend.

All my family use these kennels, they are very strict on the dog's (and I believe that they also take cats) being up to date with all of their vaccinations. The place is clean, tidy and well run, the people who run this place are strict but very friendly. We have used this place for many, many years and don't see us using anywhere else.
