Hired a MWB transit for the weekend. The lad who done the paperwork on Friday was very friendly and easy going. For 60 quid I got a seven year old van with with over 120000miles on the clock but you couldn't tell it drove great and was very clean. I did go over the 200 free miles and put slightly less fuel in than I should have and got 75 out of my 100 pound deposit back which was very reasonable and still cost alot less than everywhere else I had looked. Great company and will deffo use again.

I received excellent and prompt service from the company.The vehicle I got was in excellent condition and very clean. I was also able to extend my hire without giving them much warning, which helped me out a lot!Thank you ... it's great having such a reliable company so close by!!

Van hire process was good. I got a check-out sheet which showed me my fuel level and van condition, which was all accurate. Upon bringing vehicle back I received back my deposit as I put the fuel back in I used.

We hired 2 vans from here - A Luton and a Transit. Both of them were battered and when you tried to accelerate up a hill the engine management light came on and power reduced just when you needed it most.To top it off you have to pay CASH and then they find all reasons to charge fees - Even although we took a photo of when the vans were dropped off a fee was charged for fuel and cleaning! Owner is rude and will argue that black is white - If you don’t know he’s been doing this 30 years so 30 years of ripping people off. Stay clear of this rip off merchant who will entice you in with good price but give you vehicles that are unsafe that they end up charging you more when you hand back.Will go back to hiring from Shorts in Dalkeith

Hired a Fiesta for 4 days in July 2018. It was clean enough although not pristine - eg inside door, shuts, etc - it seemed rushed. Not material but a bit unusual for a hire car. I would have preferred to receive a full tank and return it with a full tank, as I ended up losing a quarter tank because it's hard to return it with the same part-full level. Unfortunately I had a flat tyre within a few miles because the valve had disintegrated. Alistair came out to help and fitted the spare and took the flat away so he could get it fixed while I carried on my day. He kindly fitted the replacement tyre out of hours so I wasn't held up. I wasn't charged for the flat as it was a faulty valve rather than a puncture. The staff were really helpful, and Alistair did a great job. I would use them again.

When collecting the vehicle, they tried to leave scratches off the damage report (which were massive but they supposedly couldn't see) until I pointed them out. When van was returned with the fuel ever so slightly under where it was when I collected it(due to drive between garage and depot) The owner guessed that it looks about £15 worth of fuel and took it from the deposit. £5 would have been more than enough to make it up to the right amount but because he thought differently, he hung up the phone. Have pictures to prove fuel level at drop off but owner/manager not interested what so ever as long as he's keeping the money!. Must make loads of money from keeping people's deposits as most won't bother over 15/20 quid. Customer service from owner whilst in the office and on the phone is nothing short of shocking!!
