There can be no question that this bridge serves its purpose well. Whilst there are no thrills the river crossing is satisfactory and the view is nice. Legend has it that black shuck built the bridge as a means to fool people into his grasp. However what is certain is that if you go onto the bridge and keep going you will end up on the other side of the river.

Novi Sad (in Serbia) is one of Norwich’s twin towns. Linking King Street to the riverside area of Norwich, the bridge opened in November 2001 and is an asymmetric, cable stayed swing bridge which can open by rotating on its central pier - basically, it can be swung to the side to let tall boats through. The bridge cost around £800,000 to build, and a £250,000 repair project was completed in 2019 (just 8 years later). It is useful for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the river, but they can do that via the pre-existing Carrow Road bridge just 200m downriver, so was it really worth the money?

Good bridge to jump off or spend time waiting to see if anyone else does so you can put a little mark in your black book of jolly suicides. Unlike other bridges, this goes from one side to the other, with adequate amounts of water passing below, animals aquatic gamboling all over its sodden surface. Take that last breath and join them, or simply cross to the other side in a more conventional manner, by crossing the bridge to the other side where you arrive at a retail park, not the Land of Shadows, that is accessed in the opposite direction near Rouen Rd. Now jump!

As far as fulfilling a function to pass from one side of a river to the other, the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge is a five star bridge. Had it been a four star bridge, I would have likely got wet at some point during my journey from one side to the other, as a fifth of the bridge would not have fulfilled the function of being a bridge, thus, leaving me in the river at some point during the crossing. I'm not sure why Google has pestered me persistently to provide a review of this bridge but I have now done this for the benefit of anyone in the vicinity of this bridge who may need to cross from one side of the river to the other and is looking for a bridge that spans the complete distance and not leaving the journey taker in the river at some point during the crossing. Five stars, well done.

It's an impressive structure. I have never actually been across it but I see it regularly when I take my dog for her early morning walk. I admire it very much. I finally went across it this morning even though I'm not a fan of heights! I felt safe and secure as I crossed however.

Nice little bridge that I cross almost daily. Everytime I do, I see people standing and taking their time off to enjoy the beauty around. Stand here for a few mins and you won't realise the peaceful time spent. I personally consider this bridge as a nice photo spot with the Cathedral visible at one end.
