Pet Behaviour Sorted. Mat Ward BSc MVS CCAB

Mat came out to our home this week to help us with our Labrador who constantly pulls and is very easily distracted. Having spent the morning with us he showed us may new techniques that we had never event thought of and after just the one session the difference was amazing, there has been a massive change in our dog already and hopefully the positive change will continue onwards. Mat has turned walking our dog from a dreaded experience to a thoroughly enjoyable one, I would highly recommend him.

We are so thankful that we consulted Mat Ward regarding our dog's reactivity & barking issues. Our 3-year old Hungarian Vizsla, Ellie, has always been quite a nervous & very vocal dog but she was becoming increasingly anxious & intolerant of unfamiliar dogs coming too close to her & she had started not just to bark but also to sometimes rush at other dogs to tell them to keep away. We spent a morning with Mat in a location where he was able to observe Ellie's behaviour & he gave us a detailed & clear explanation of the underlying reasons for her behaviour & advice on practical steps to resolve her issues. This was followed by a thorough & informative written report detailing his assessment & clearly setting out the behaviour modification programme & training methods recommended. We have found Mat's recommendations to be straightforward to implement & we are delighted to be seeing a marked improvement in her behaviour. She is now 'checking in' with us when she sees another dog or person that she is unsure of & she is noticeably calmer. What is particularly valuable is Mat's ongoing guidance & support provided by his free email or telephone follow-up service. Mat has always responded promptly & in detail to any questions that we have had following the consultation which has been immensely helpful. We feel confident that we are now on the right track with Ellie & it is lovely to see her becoming a more confident & happier dog.

We came to Mat about our adolescent dog, Benson, who couldn't settle in the house and seemed anxious and frantic, he would spend a lot of the time barking at us and panting, we were very worried about his state of mind. We organised a remote video call with Mat, who came highly recommended from our vet.The call was a 2/3 hours long, and through discussing behaviours and going over videos we had sent prior to the appointment, he got to the bottom of his behaviours. Mat put us at ease, (we were very nervous), was reassuring and kind, and pretty much solved the root of the behaviour over the course of the call. He sent over a brilliantly comprehensive summary, and has since given us excellent support for other issues and check-ins.Since we first spoke to Mat, we went from struggling, dreading coming home to our dog, to literally living with a sweet angel. I honestly can say that this is the best money I have ever spent, and I can't rave enough about how much he helped us. We genuinely can't believe how quickly Benson's behaviour turned around, and how much everyone's lives has improved. Mat is a joy to deal with and if you have any behavioural issues with your dog (or cat), I wouldn't go anywhere else. Just fantastic.

Mat gave a very thorough analysis of our dogs problem . This was useful to support interventions at many levels, biological, emotional, and behavioural aimed at improving his confidence with other dogs. Written report, vet contact included plus video follow up to make sure I’m doing it right! Feeling more confident now that I can work to improve my dogs life.

Very pleased to have met with Mat Ward over zoom the other night to discuss our Tibetan terrier’s behavioural issues. He listened to all of my worries and spent hours helping me to produce a plan for our dog. I found the session amazing and would highly recommend Mat to everyone. To be honest we were at the point of tears with our puppy’s barking and felt really worn down, but after our session, things seemed a lot clearer and so I started to put his suggestions into action the next day. Already we are noticing a difference, which is such a relief! Mat wrote a detailed report within the day, and is also sending that to our vet. It’s going to be a long journey but with Mat there for advice we are all feeling much more confident. Great service!

Mat is absolutely wonderful and helped improve my handling skills with my dog who is reactive towards certain uniformed people. It is a work in progress, but Mat helped provide us with the tools we needed to positively move forward and I am so impressed with the improvements my dog and I have made using his help. Mat helped me get on top of my cats toileting outside of their litter trays, something that had been going on for years!I implemented his suggestions as quickly as I could and the issue is completely resolved! Mat was thorough in his questioning to ensure he understand the situation fully, he explained his thoughts and why he recommended the steps that he did, and indeed it worked!Very happy cat Mum! <3Thank you, Mat.

Mat has helped us out enormously with our dog young terrier. He spent a lot of time listening to us and giving us a very clear view of how to address our interactions with her and her behaviour, he has been a huge help and extremely reassuring, particularly when there is so much conflicting information available regarding raising a happy dog. She has continued to progress extremely well and we are all living together very happily, making sure that she continues to grow up into a happy and balanced pup but also that we can have some balance in our own lives.We can't recommend him enough.

We have an American bulldog who at 18 months had no socialising skills was aggressive to other dogs Matt was recommended by a vet. After my dog attacked another dog. Having worked with Matt and took his guidance Chase is now a pillar of calm. and able to walk with other dogs now. takes time but with matt on board we have a great dog we can be proud of.
