We had chips and talked a lot. It was emotional but the kissing was worth 5 stars alone. The cats are funny.

Told my son could do work experience here and told not to worry if I didn't hear from them until the time. Went to confirm the week before and told by the same man that it was too short notice. He had to sit on his own in school for the week. Horrible way to treat people.

I rent a storage room at the Substation for all my gear. Awesome guys! nothing is too much trouble and always get a friendly welcome. I've used the rehearsal rooms several times and again everything has been fantastic, great equipment. well recommended!

This is perhaps one of the hardest reviews I have ever done as my association with the guys at The Substation stretches back nearly forty years to when Mick Brennan was on the Nazareth road crew. When I write that I can hardly believe how much time has past. Now Mick’s son Michael Brennan along with Duncan Aitken and Craig Howie have joined the team there. So what have these guys done for me apart from being good friends? Well how about providing the PA for my wedding where we had a Rock band, Dixieland Jazz Band and a Scottish Dance Band entertaining our guests? When I turned sixty there was nobody else in the frame other than Substation that I wanted providing the PA and crew at my own music festival with ten bands throughout the afternoon / evening of the party. They have always been there when I needed support with anything music related i.e. school productions, choir concerts, festivals etc. The gear is always top notch and the guys can be counted on to go the extra distance when called upon. Any difficulties are quickly identified and remedied professionally. That deals with the on location areas when I’ve used them and will continue to use them. Now we move onto the studio and remote recording and rehearsal facilities. Again I have had the huge pleasure of making use of all three areas within The Substation complex. Five individual rehearsal booths are there for hire. All are provided with a basic kit and simple backline at very reasonable cost for both young bands starting out and more established bands in need of a reliable space to work and relax. The recording area comprises a large control room with an Oram BEQ 24 channel analogue desk plus all the latest digital outboard equipment ProTools etc and also a nice analogue 16 track two inch tape system should that float your boat. A reasonably sized live room and a vocal booth are there along with a just coming on stream second recording / mixing room complex. Any number of different keyboards, amps, guitars etc are available and of course anything in the way of instruments can be sourced quickly.I have produced two albums there and all the sessions were terrific fun supported all the way by the skills from the guys. So yes this review is personal and arguably slightly biased. However trust me when I say that when spending money making an album had the service provided by Mick, Michael & Duncan not been up to scratch then this review would most certainly have reflected that. Yes I am biased but after all these years of working alongside these guys I know that I am in very safe hands and they will not let me down. It is a great facility.Graeme Scott Broadcaster / Music Journalist / Producer

Really well built rehearsal rooms at a decent price. The place is tidy and has decent well looked after gear. Our band did some live recordings in the purpose built studio suite here and the end product was fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They also hire out drum kits and sounds systems for gigs also!

Good rooms and gear at a decent price, there is also air con which is not that common in rehearsal spaces! Decent selection of rental gear on offer too but not used any personally. Usually pretty busy so book early.

The Sub Station is far and away the best studio in fife and amongst the best in Scotland. The staff are excellent and know the business inside out. I would recommend the facility to anyone.
