Staffordshire Record Office

This was our first ever visit to a records office and what a great experience it was. The staff members were extremely helpful, taking time to explain how to identify location of records, the facilities available and how to use them. They worked well as a team, not only retrieving record registers but helping us to identify which ones to use. Definitely a five star service for us; we’re sure to need more research in this part of the UK so it’ll be a pleasure to return; thank you for all your help.

A real treasure trove of material covering every subject and place in the county. Visiting gives access to so much more than is available online!

Over many years the help, advice and enthusiasm from the staff has enabled me to progress my research into the history of my house in areas I would never have thought of.

Extremely interesting place, as long as you request the records you want in advance it is great. If requesting on the day the wait can be hours. Your first time I would recommend going with somebody who knows the ropes as the staff assume you know everything and seem put out when asked something.
